A complete guide to Scandinavia filled with travel tips, cultural and historical facts, recipes, and inspirational photography from the Nordic nations. Why are Scandinavians constantly topping the happiness table? How do you get more Scandi-style in your life? Just how do you use lagom? Full of inspiration and ideas, how-tos and recipes to help you experience the very best of Scandinavian design, philosophy, cookery, and culture, this honest behind-the-scenes look at the culture provides an invaluable insight into the wonderful and visually stunning world of Scandinavia. Like her viking ancestors before her, Brontë Aurell left Denmark to explore the world beyond home shores and in her travels has come to understand the fascination with her kinfolk, as well as seeing the idiosyncrasies of the Scandinavian lifestyle that locals take for granted. With a signature wit and a keen eye for detail, she takes you on a journey through fjords and mountains, farmlands, and cities to better understand these three nations and what makes each one so unique. So get outdoors, learn the life lesson that there's no such thing as bad weather (only bad clothing), and you may discover your inner Scandi sooner than you think . . . From the How To Live . . . series of insightful guides to some of the most intriguing cultures and locations on the planet, other books available include How To Live Japanese, How To Live Korean, and How to Live Icelandic. Review: Beautiful, humorous Nordic guidebook - I’m of Spanish & German descent, but remain interested in other countries/cultures; I visited Sweden 10 years ago and loved it, only wish I could have stayed more than a few days during a layover. This book, by far, is the best guide to Scandinavian/Nordic cultures — or any culture different from mine, that I’ve ever read. It’s humorous, inventive, eloquent and the photography is breath-taking. I especially loved the recipes and tried a few! I’ve been looking into traveling to a few Nordic countries so this book was perfect for said research. Well done! Highly recommend! Review: Positively Delightful! A fabulous read/gift for anyone with "Scandi" roots - Had me giggling from the introduction - a fantastic, easy read and delightful gift for anyone with Scandi-roots. Makes for a beautiful coffee table book or decor when you're done reading but I encourage you to pass it along to someone else and share the love. There is light-hearted information about everything from food, wardrobe, sports, HYGGE, coffee, relationships, how to properly Sauna and a section on IKEA that is especially funny.

OK to Read
could have been a bit more factual and meaty.... a bit of a fluff piece.

Scandinavian Lore with a Twist
Great book, with some tongue in cheek observations on Denmark, Norway and Sweden! Written by an ExPat living in England, the author gives meaning and history to many customs food traditions of these Nordic countries

Fun and lovely book!
This book makes me smile all the way through. Very humorous in a Scandi way. It also is all so true! Chock full of fun stuff about everything in Norway, Denmark and Sweden and great photos. Love it

An educational, beautiful and funny book
I loved this book. As a second generation Swede, it helped me understand my restrained, somewhat enigmatic family. The author's humor was wonderful, and made me laugh out loud every time I picked it up. I am ordering it today to give to a friend who wants to learn more about his Danish heritage.

Lovely and funny.
Great insight into Scandi/Nordic culture, with a humorous twist. Should be a required read for anyone travelling to the north lands.

Brontë never disappoints!
This is the third book I have that she has written. I am a quarter Swede and love learning as much as I can about my heritage. I have been able to implement many things into my daily life and holiday celebrations. Well written with humor and great information.

A beautiful and funny book about Scandinavia!
I love the Scandikitchen in London and as such have been following their blog for a while. I found myself coming back to some articles every now and then (because they were funny and spot on) and was happy to find some in this book in physical form. However I would like to reassure that most of the content is unique to this book and will set clear some common beliefs and assumptions about most things Scandinavian. You will finally find out how to look Swedish (who would not want to?) and how to decorate your flat Copenhagen style. You will have the record straight on how the dating scene actually works and the social faux-pas in saunas that must be avoided. You will of course discover a lot about local traditions, food, culture, politics (and a lot more) and brush up your knowledge on their Royal families (and thus probably score extra points next time you watch ‘the chase’ or ‘eggheads’). This book will make you chuckle but mostly feel like you are being told these stories by a cool friend who does not take herself seriously in comfortable surroundings (how hygge). Oh and the illustrations and photography are absolutely beautiful. If you love all things Nordics you will adore this book and will probably find yourself picking it up quite often even after finishing reading it.

Foto molto suggestive

A fun book to read when your heritage comes from these lands. Love the quirkiness.
