One of the Best Mineral Sunscreens — Safe, Effective, and Kid-Approved
As a parent, I’m always cautious about what goes on my child’s skin—especially when it comes to sun protection. Thinkbaby Safe Sunscreen SPF 50+ has become our go-to for several reasons. First, the ingredient list is incredibly clean, free of harmful chemicals like oxybenzone, avobenzone, and parabens. It’s a non-nano zinc oxide formula, which gives me peace of mind when using it on sensitive skin. There’s also no overpowering fragrance—just a light, neutral scent that fades quickly. Application is smooth for a mineral sunscreen. It goes on thick enough to feel protective, but it’s surprisingly easy to rub in compared to other zinc-based formulas. It leaves only a minimal white cast, which disappears quickly on my child’s fair skin. We’ve tested this through pool days, park trips, and long hikes—it holds up well with excellent water resistance (up to 80 minutes) and no skin irritation whatsoever. Best of all, my toddler doesn’t fight me when it’s time to put it on, which speaks volumes. If you’re looking for a safe, effective, and child-friendly sunscreen, Thinkbaby is one of the best mineral options on the market. It earns a permanent spot in our summer bag.

among the best sunscreens on the market...
In the summertime protecting myself and my children from harmful effects of sun is of great importance. We all need sunlight for proper Vitamin D synthesis in our body however a 20 minute/day direct exposure (not blocked by window glass or clear plastic) is more than enough for that purpose. Anything above that starts to show the adverse effects of the sun. What are they? The most pronounced two adverse effects are premature aging of skin and skin cancer, not to mention horrible immediate redness and tenderness followed by peeling of skin which can cancel your all joy from a beach holiday. To avoid all those effects we have to take preventive measures. The most effective and the least harmful preventive measure is to avoid exposure to sun during critical hours. So if you can avoid being under direct sunlight between 10am and 3pm you are doing the best you can do. Second comes appropriate clothing and accessories. I recommend using rash guards (top part of swim suits that can block UV while not causing a big restriction.) They should be worn especially by children although I, as an adult men, got used to wearing one Speedo Men's UPF 50+ Easy Short Sleeve Rashguard Swim Tee happily . Hats and glasses are other accessories that come to my mind as preventive measures. Third comes the sunscreens. The reason I rate it below the first two is that it contains a bunch of ingredients and can readily be absorbed by body, enter blood stream or have effects in local skin tissue. Therefore it is critical to know what is in it and what it does after routine daily use. Another reason is that it may give a false safety feeling since it is not effective until 15 minutes has past after applying and the protective effect vanishes after 80 minutes.(also true for this model as written on the bottle). So not knowing these details may get you unprotected while you mistakenly believe you are safe... According to FDA website 17 ingredients are allowed to be topically applied to skin for the purpose of sun protection. External websites (including the Oz show and EWG) says 15 of them are proven endocrine distruptors which, after entering your blood stream can act as your hormones and cause imbalance, leading to different adverse effects. Oxybenzene (endocrine distruptor) and some vitamin A derivatives (claimed by some sources as carcinogenic) are the most infamous nasty chemicals among the other bad fellows that make up the list. The 'innocent' guys are zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. Those ingredients are believed to be relatively harmless while offering good UV protection. This particular product has 20% zinc oxide as the active ingredient. So it has an overall rating of 1 out of 10 in EWG (Environmental Working Group) website (lower number means less harmful) Zinc oxide, on that website , is rated as 2 with some minor concerns about cellular problems and bio-accumulation. Other filler ingredients are listed as harmless except dimethicone which was rated 3 due to some organ level toxicity concerns as well as environmental toxicity issues. However among the list of 462 sunscreens clearly investigated by that independent agency, this one still rates among the top products. Besides it is rated as having a good balance of UV A and UV B protection by many external websites I have searched including EWG itself. After all those general information, here comes my hands on experience after two months of use: -It is effective: No sunburn in my children after our two weeks of beach holiday. (But I have to say we have avoided the sun by staying in shade as much as possible and used protective clothing too..) -It did not cause any irritation or skin problems,it is also written on the bottle to be safe for babies over 6 months old (younger than that: check with your doctor is what it says) -It does not smell nasty. No smell apart from a mild fruity smell. -Price wise it is okay especially when considering the availability to order it through subscribe and save and get an additional upto 20% discount (at the time I bought it). (some reviewers point out bigger 6 ounce sizes are available for cheaper in external websites which might be worth considering too...) Over all, I am pretty happy about the purchase and apply it without much concern to my kids as an additional sun protection to other methods, I discussed above. Just keep in mind the instructions and re-apply regularly and you are good to go...

FINALLY, a sunscreen that doesn’t cause a reaction!
I’ve tried so many baby sunscreens, and my daughter had reactions to almost all of them — even the ones labeled “gentle” or “for sensitive skin.” Her skin would turn red, dry out, or get tiny bumps. But Thinkbaby has been a game changer. This is the first sunscreen that hasn’t irritated her skin at all. No rashes, no dryness, no stinging eyes — just smooth protection. It has a slightly thick texture (like most mineral sunscreens), but it rubs in surprisingly well, especially if you warm it in your hands first. It leaves a tiny bit of a white cast at first but fades after rubbing in. ✅ What I love: • Truly safe for sensitive skin • No harsh smell or greasy feel • Water resistant, great for pool days • Peace of mind knowing it’s free of harmful chemicals If you’re a parent of a child with sensitive or allergy-prone skin, this sunscreen is absolutely worth trying. I won’t buy anything else now.

Excelente
This sunscreen has been a great purchase for my daughter. It has a nice texture, is easy to apply, and didn’t cause any reaction on her skin. I liked that it protected her well even at the beach. It also doesn’t have a strong smell, which is perfect for kids. I recommend it for moms looking for something safe and effective.

Good product but was close to expired
This sunblock is great for sensitive skin. It is fragrance free, chemical free, and very gentle. As is typical of zinc based, chemical free sunscreens, though, it does leave a whitish cast on the skin and is somewhat difficult to apply. It takes a bit of effort to rub in, which can be challenging on a squirmy, impatient infant or child. You definitely need to SHAKE it before application as the contents have a tendency to separate. However, it's possible that is only because the tube I received was nearly expired (within a couple of months). That means it was actually quite old, since US regulations require that sunscreen have a shelf life/expiration date of at least 3 years from the date of manufacture. Obviously the fault for that lies with you know who, because in this case it was sold and shipped by them, not an outside seller. I had expected better but I'm not really surprised. Cost cutting, cutting corners, and offering no refunds on "health" items - even expired ones - is standard for them. I would definitely recommend this sunblock, but try to buy it locally, or from a more responsible seller, so you don't receive old product.

Kept my fair skin boys sunburn free
Fantastic at preventing sunburn. We took my son’s (8 months old & 2 years old) to Disneyland. Of course the sun was blazing while we were there, but neither boy got sunburnt because of how well this sunscreen worked. I definitely recommend this sunscreen, also because it has really clean ingredients.

The REAL environmentally conscious sunscreen
Ok - I did a LOT of research after I finally realized how tired I was of getting the Costco cheapest bulk sunscreen available. It worked but was sticky with annoying residue and had a smell that was too fragrant. I have long wanted to go with a "environmentally friendly" sunscreen. For anyone interested - the environmentally friendly ones only contain physical sunblocks such as zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. These sunscreens create a physical barrier and not absorbed into skin and won't kill fish/marine life. You can go on the website www.ewg.org to see which suncreens are good for the environment. I would have to say that "Think sport/baby" brand is the best one I've found so far within a good price range and easy to find in most grocery/pharmacy stores. All the Thinksport/baby line is pretty much the same sunscreen but with slightly different "oil" additive and fragrance. They just have to have a product for kids/baby for marketing and sales but they are all great. I like the Thinkbaby because it has a very mild coconut smell which I like (not perfumey) and it goes on pretty nice. There is a slight residue and "film" feeling but I'll challenge anyone to find a physical block sunscreen without this. Most physical sunscreens have a white cast and paste. Thinkbaby/sport has minimize this as much as possible I think. Works great - I lap swim and it's water resistant and last for at least 2 hours - probably would last longer but I'm never swimming more than 2 hours. I definitely bring this with me if I'm ever swimming in the ocean or a lake so I don't feel like I kill wildlife. There are a lot of sunscreens out there trying to say they are "organic" "environmentally friendly" but look at the ingredients - the only ones are zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. Avobenzone is everywhere and is not environmentally friendly. However - Avobenzone products go on very smooth and nice with minimal residue. Avobenzone feels the most "sheer" like you are wearing nothing at all. These are the "chemical" sunblocks that absorb into skin. Safety? Not sure but it's hard not to find avobenzone in sunscreens - even very high end ones. For me - I still have some avobenzone products because I like stuff on my face to feel sheer and good under makeup. If I'm lap swimming at the city pool - I won't kill marine life nor pollute so I'll still wear the avobenzone products on my face. If I'm out in nature - it's Think baby/sport all the way even on my face. Not sure if this review helps anyone but it's what I've found in my research.

Long lasting
This stuff is very sticky and thick. It works very well. I personally don't love 50 SPF sunscreen for myself so I get frustrated because it's very difficult to get off. But I love how well it protects my little kids. I will continue to buy this product again and again.

Great baby safe sunscreen
This sunscreen was perfect for my baby. Did not irritate her skin at all and had a pleasant light scent. Was also very easy to rub in. We will continue to buy this sunscreen for her.
