Review: Useful - Good product, a bit overpriced for what it is, but it’s useful Review: Handy but WAY over priced - So this is a neat little credit card sized set of plastic printed cards with different knots on - not exhaustive but probably the main ones you need. The “kit” comes with two cheap pieces of nylon rope the size of a shoelace, and two carabiners which are also very basic and probably only good enough to clip the kit to something like a rucksack for quick access. Overall probably good for kids, but if you want to learn knots I’d advise save your money, go buy some lengths of decent rope from a hardware, climbing or outdoor shop and learn on YouTube. I have used it and I have learned something, but I think the kit is a bit of a rip off and I wouldn’t buy it again or recommend others buy it. Way over priced for what it is.

A POOR PRODUCT FOR THE MONEY
Awful product. 19 quid for 2 shoelaces, plastic cards and a silly little gimmicky carabena. Wish I'd paid attention to the dimensions of this product. 'Rope'-shoelaces. A poor product, I would not recommend that you buy this.

Is what the ad says
A good product that is what the ad says. Appears reasonable quality

Overpriced
Fun little gift but it is fairly expensive for what you're given. You'd be better off buying shoelaces and looking up knots online.

Excellent kit
Great little kit. As others have said, the ropes are on the small side but they’re plenty long enough to learn the majority of the knots included on the cards. Plus, you can always use your newfound knowledge of the sheet or fisherman’s bend to link them together! I honestly can’t stop playing with them. Who’d have thought tying knots could be so enjoyable.

Not a complete study program, but a fantastic resource for practice
The cards are fully attached, so you twist them on the axis of the hole to read them. Smart in that it keeps them together. The cards can sometimes run right to the edge of the text, but not overlap. There is a mnemonic on one knot, so I thought they would all have that, but no, just the bowline. This is a good overview of how to tie the knot, and the diagrams are perfectly clear. Occasionally there is some information on when to use a specific knot -- timber hitch is described as "use for securing a rope around a post or any cylindrical object, sometimes not so much -- half hitch only says "unsafe when used alone, the half hitch is used in combination with many important knots". Which? For what? It then goes on to say "Use two half hitches to tie a rope to any object". Would that be safe? It doesn't specify. And what about it isn't safe? Some are contradictory. The square not says it is "not to be trusted to join two ropes together" and demonstrates it by joining two ropes together. It also describes it as "a good knot for securing non-critical items". Why do we need another knot for that? Can't the knot the is used to secure critical items do double duty? I count exactly 20 knots covered, not the promised 23: Bowline Tautline Hitch Stopper Knot (aka Ashley's stopper) Square Knot Water Knot Timer Hitch Buntline Hitch Rolling Hitch Clove Hitch Constrictor Knot Half Hitch Sheet Bend Prusik Knot Double Fisherman's Cleat Hitch Trucker's Hitch Figure Eight Mooring Hitch Butterfly Knot Bowline on a Blight There is a note on double sheet bend under sheet bend, but I can't count that as a separate knot. The same with slipped sheet bend. Further, I think pushing all three into one explanation made none of them make sense. Two half hitches is listed as a separate knot from half hitch even though it's just do the same knot twice. No, that's not two different knots. Might as well say do it three times and call it a triple half hitch. Slippery half-hitch, which is a listed knot on the back of the package, is completely missing with no note about this under half hitch. The carabiners are odd. I was planning to just clip everything onto one, clip that onto my ridiculously overloaded purse/keychain combo (seriously, there's a Rubik's cube on there, this should fit) and have it at hand to practice on the go. I'm a big fan of making practical use of empty time. It looks perfect for that. It didn't exactly work as expected. The small blue one fits into the hole in the cards, but it's too small for both ropes wrapped as they came. If I pull them loose and just tie them so a single loop sits on the carabiner, letting them hang down longer, then it works. I just hope the cats don't go for it like that. The other carabiner, and the cards to all sit on it. The red one is large enough to hold it all, but too large to fit the hole in the cards. To me, this is a poor design choice. Slightly larger holes in the cards would have seemed more sensible. The ropes are perfect to learn on. They're thin, which makes them easy to carry around for practice. They're short enough to be convenient, maybe 3-4 foot, but long enough to work with. They have that burned end thing going on (I was scared I'd have to do that myself). Overall I'll say this is good for an auxiliary resource and a brilliant study tool, but is insufficient in itself to learn these knots and their purposes. For quick reference and for convenient practice on the go it would be difficult to find anything better.
