PPI ARE 5.0 Practice Questions All Six Divisions, 2nd Edition – Comprehensive Practice for the NCARB 5.0 Exam

Excellent book with good explanations. This has been helpful on the professional exams (I haven’t taken the technical ones yet) and they do a good job emulating what you see on the exam. Taught me to really read a question thoroughly and discard useless information to get an answer correct. Pairs great with the ARE exam study book.

I purchased this book to study for my ARE, really worth it!

The questions are placed in the wrong chapters. For example, the chapter 14 on Neighborhood Context has NO questions on that topic, but appears to have all of the questions for the chapter on Building Code. The chapter 15 on Zoning & Environment also has no questions about zoning nor environment, but rather has questions about accessible toilets and doors. Chapter 16 on Building Code asks three questions about IT/AV and HVAC, nothing about building code. The first question in the chapter 19 on Structural Systems asks about the different colors of lamping. What the heck????? I have no idea what's up with this book. It's completely scrambled. I'm definitely reaching out to the publisher PPI.

The author has no built work to be found online. 100% convinced this guy gets no work IRL. Written by a scholar spewing out facts in the thickest book ever and the expectation is that everything professed is memorized. Questions/answers are written in a way to be confusing by one or two words rather than testing the understanding of concepts. Including multiple correct answers but this one is ever so slightly better because one tricky word slipped in, but in the real world it depends on many factors. Surely the same losers with no real world experience are writing the exams.

This book is an essential part of passing the ARE.
