In this story, Lady Death herself has been kidnapped and ferreted away leading to an entire universe where no one can die (Seeley has great fun exploring why this would be a bad thing) and it is up to Thanos to find her and set things right... or it would be if Death didn't actually prefer Deadpool and will now only communicate with him. The two begrudgingly team up and travel across the universe and even into Hell itself to locate their mistress. The Deadpool elements of the book work for the most part with Seeley's guidance (how much you get out of that aspect of the book depends on how much you enjoy Deadpool as a character), but the main surprise is how much of a fitting tribute the Thanos elements of the book are to Jim Starlin's old Infinity series. Drawing on characters like Mephisto, Eternity, and the In-Betweener, Seeley is only one Adam Warlock away from having crafted a great modern era "Infinity" story line of his own (which makes the humor even stronger when wacky Deadpool interacts with these cosmic operatic characters). Deadpool isn't a personal favorite of mine since the shtick can wear thin, but teaming him up with such a serious minded character like Thanos makes for a fun and entertaining read. Who would have guessed Thanos makes such a good comedy straight man? ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A new favorite *by C***S on Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2020* This is one of the best Deadpool story lines I have read. I do not know much about Thanos, but I know Deadpool intimately, having read Deadpool Classic, DP and Cable, the Joe Kelly run, and half a dozen of the individual team-up collections like DP vs Black Panther, DP vs Spider Man etc.Seeley gets Deadpool. It's that simple, yet so often writers just do not get him (Christopher Priest comes to mind). Bondoc is on point with illustration.The story was as hilarious as it was intense, dealing with all sorts of cosmic powers and existential issues while DP is a clown as much as he is a superhero. I highly recommend this collection, and wish Seeley wrote more DP. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A ridiculous team up that actually works *by J***G on Reviewed in the United States on October 9, 2018* Deadpool got so huge that Marvel decided to team him up with nearly everyone in short comic series. Hence Deadpool vs Thanos was born, the most odd mix you could think of. The title page sums things up well with Pool saying, “It was a joke Marvel! I was joking when I said I wanted to fight Thanos!”With such a ridiculous mix there had to be a story to live up to the billing, and it did. The series gets off to an irreverent start as Deadpool attempts to assassinate Dr. Doom while he’s on vacation. Then Wade Wilson hooks up with the Black Talon one of the more absurd characters Marvel not only created, but continued to use for years. At one point Wilson French kisses the boatman Charon who takes the dead across the River Styx, and then kills Thanos’ mother in hell. Top that!The actual comic is about Mistress Death being taken and Deadpool and Thanos teaming up, yes something you never thought you’d read, trying to rescue her. Of course, things end with a big battle, and a changing of sides, and another big fight.There are so many ways this comic series could have gone wrong.
