To operate the light press the button on the right. You can press the light button once to have a solid light, twice for the light to blink fast and a third time for the light to blink slowly. Pressing the light button a fourth time will turn it off. For further questions feel free to call customer service at (800) 325-9568. **Q: To what extent is this water resistant? will it function / not be damaged in rain? i'm hoping sabre will know.** A: I’ve been caught in the rain twice and haven’t had any issues. I do “test “ it periodically to make sure it will work properly when I need it to also **Q: Will it scare away black bears?** A: It's not made to scare away bears.
