We had been struggling with cheaper power line adaptors provided by our internet service provider (BT). Happily streaming HD now, with no interruptions. The built-in wiFi is also great. I had a second router connected to my old power line adaptors before, but this is much simpler. Review: Impressive - Used this to extend my home network to a Outside garage work room that is 14 metres away from my house and provide WiFi in the garden too.. Now have WiFi in my garden all the way to the boundary 30m garden and Lan access from the office for 2 devices. Speeds are good - only sometimes 10 to 15% less than speeds in the house. Also worth mentioning- the power to my outside work room is via the main house consumer fuse box on a separate ring to the house wall power points and then through a 2nd fused consumer box in the garage. So both devolo units are as far away from each other as they possibly could be power line wise with a couple of "hops" at least in the path too, it is old wiring too. Only niggle on set up was I had to hold /press the reset button on the router side devolo adapter to get the white light flashing. This method is in the instructions trouble shooting section. You can change passwords; secure the access points; set power saving modes; schedule off time; and do everything you would need to via the app. I am really impressed with the speeds, 3 of us in the garden all on WiFi, either surfing, streaming and uploading, no noticeable problems and great connection. It had me foxed. I didn't find the instructions as clear as they might be. The second unit (Magic 2 wifi 2-1)- the larger one with the 2 ethernet sockets has a passcode on the back marked 'wifi'. That's the one to use. I paired them in double wall sockets and left them for 10 mins to get to know each other before plugging in the Tips: It helps to download the Devolo Home Network app. The app will give you a graphical display of your devolo network and which unit is giving a wifi signal and whether you have an internet connection, as well as the technical stuff. IP, Mac addresses etc. You can also give your units nicknames to help you keep track of them. If you throw out the box, keep the side with the barcode which you can use in future to pair the units using the phone app. I hope this helps - I'm not a network geek! BW **Q: Will these units work on two separate ciruits in the same house?** A: Yes, they work on separate circuits. The only requirement is that they're on the same electrical phase, and most domestic premises will be. If units are on separate circuits, the implication is that the signals have to transverse both circuits via the main consumer unit with circuit breakers, so typically a longer path than if on the same circuit. The speeds might be a little lower, but it all depends on the cables and connections individual to a house. I have no problems running four of these units across three mains circuits. **Q: Can this be used with an extension cable or does it only work by being plugged into the wall socket?** A: You can use it on a one socket extension cable but not on a multi socket extention. It would be better if you plugged the powerline unit into the wall socket and plug the extention into the socket on the front of the unit. **Q: I have netgear ethernet extenders in place, can these be used with them?** A: They can be used alongside them, not with them. You will effectively have two completely separate networks (on two separate SSID's) going back to the same router. They will have their own login credentials. Web app is easy to use to if you know what you are doing. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4 times as fast as current mesh *by L***D on 2 November 2019* Really good and fast, I run a Zyxel multi X mesh network and its bulletproof but my speeds can vary, I installed these plugs as my TPlink 1200s kept on dropping connection, house is old wiring from the 60s, day installation was pretty straight forward use the smaller of the 2 as your router link and the large ones as remote nodes, connection seems stable and the WiFi is fast when compared to my Zyxel which normally reruns about 40meg a sec this new device Max’s at about 230 meg at the moment my internet is a 500mg virgin unit.
