This rain bird is highly efficient even on much lower water pressures than all of its brass brothers and the many clones on the market costing 30% more. The control valve systems are similar but far more smoother due to the lower weight on the sprinkler head. The plastic collar is of a much lower friction material than its brass brothers resulting in a highly efficient rain bird that'll satisfy nearly all the needs you have. I had both brass and another P5R Plastic Rainbird. I just retired the working and operating brass Rain Bird and gladly ordered and added another P5R Plastic Rain Bird Sprinkler which is much more efficient. Recommended
Review: great - great. First, I've had a ton of experience with these impact type sprinkler heads from working in a small tree nursery business some years ago. This fall I decided to some pretty major reseeding of my front lawn, I need two sprinklers to run off a splitter to water the seed, so I went to the local box store and picked up the splitter, specific hose lengths, and two impact sprinklers...,Orbit I believe is the brand, these had the green metal head and they are garbage, nothing but problems in evey way. So I had a freshly renovated lawn that was going to need water twice a day and garbage sprinkles. I came here, saw the Rain Bird brand amd bought the two pack of these heads only to use in the bases from the garbage green ones I bought. I've been using these Rain Birds twice a day for a month and down now to once a day and they're great. They're plastic so you do have take some care not to break them but they work on high pressure, low pressure, whatever. I adjust the distance control and the rotation degree daily when I move them and it's not a problem at all. The screw to fuzz up the stream is a pain but you just need to set it once so it just touches the stream and leave it, so it's fine too.

**Q: Sprinkler won't cover a full circle? I purchased one of these, but it won't cover a full circle - seems to leave about a 10 degree area unwatered.**
A: Can you make the sprinkler head move 360 degrees by hand? If you look at the sprinkler head is the "stop peg" holding the complete circle? You might have dirt in the head and if you rotate it by hand it should free it up.

**Q: Is there a place where you can buy replacement nozzles of smaller size. i need to get GPM down a bit to match well**
A: If you know of an irrigation supply company they may have them. Unless you get into the really big sprinklers the threads and everything are all the same. The Gilmore nozzles will fit the rainbirds. At least on the ones I have they interchange. I run a gasoline powered pump from the creek an try and put out as much water as possible. That is why I don't like the new rainbirds I bought. They turn entirely to fast. If the cheap plastic sprinlers have a screw in nozzle they will work and are probably a lot smaller. I have one I will try if you want to email me back later at geldreth@charter.net. Hope this helps.

**Q: How does it preform in low hose pressure?**
A: The P5-R Plus model has a total or 5 nozzles so you can change out/customize the nozzle to your water pressure and gallons per minute to provide the best possible spray pattern. This is perfect for low-pressure applications.

**Q: Does this go right into the ground, or do I need to buy a separate 'stand' for it?  Thank you.**
A: you need separate stand for it. I bought "Orbit 1/2-Inch Metal Ring Sprinkler Base 58030" they go well with it. These sprinklers worked well for me, they work the way sprinklers should work easy to adjust the angle and i get good water force (city water). Good luck.

The plastic collar is of a much lower friction material than its brass brothers resulting in a highly efficient rain bird that'll satisfy nearly all the needs you have. I had both brass and another P5R Plastic Rainbird. I just retired the working and operating brass Rain Bird and gladly ordered and added another P5R Plastic Rain Bird Sprinkler which is much more efficient. Recommended

A Grand product that somehow always out performs metal units in my application. But new to Rain Bird sprinkler folks beware; these arrive with only the blue output nozzle. The other colored size orifices that permit customizing output with a tool free quick change are NOT included. Pay a few cents more, and buy the proper Rain Bird.
