Extends the warmth of my quilt substantially.I have an Enlightened Equipment Revelations 20F bag.With out the hood it is comfortable down to 40ish, 35F is the cut off point where it becomes too chilly to get a good nights sleep in the back country.This hood had me sleeping in Idaho and Montana in my car with no heat at 26-28F.This hood makes your whole kit more modular and versatile.-Put it on in the morning while taking down camp.-Throw it on while hiking in the morning/evening for some added warmth without taking your pack off- Extremely light can be paired well with all clothes for an unbeatable warmth to weight ratio.- Roll it inside of itself and wear it as a hat (Check youtube for a video)- Stick your head through the face opening and use it as a neck warmer-Use it as an eye mask at night when urban boondocking - just tighten up the face opening until your eyes are covered, essential for restful sleepThe face opening is big as is the inside of the hood, which is good and bad.The good part is you can slide your head through as long as you aren't Hey Arnold (Shout out 90's kids) to use it as a neckwarmer.The bad part is when you wear it as a hood it can slide down your forehead and it can be annoying to constantly pull up.If your head is small/you don't have much hair there can be an air gap between your head and the back of the hood.Quick fix - wear a ball cap underneath, the bill will keep the hood from falling.I am looking to sew in a cord that runs from around your ears to the back of your head, similar to how Arctery'x adjusts their hoods.This should keep it from falling down and also provide more warmth as there will be less of an air gap.If the manufacturer is reading this, please consider adding this 3rd adjustable cord that runs from around the ears to the back of the head, it would take this hood from 5 stars to 6.Overall, I love it and I always take it with me into the backcountry. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Can't complain it's real down and it's 20$. Works perfectly with my REI down jacket .My only recommendation is if you use it to probably also have a ball cap on to keep the hood out of your eyes. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Paired with aegismax tapered sleeping bag *by C***Y on Reviewed in the United States on October 23, 2017* I recently purchased the aegismax tapered sleeping bag and paired this hood with that bag in mid 40 degree weather and I was comfortable. The hood is comfortable against skin, blocks light wind, doesnt smell, and packs down to less than the size of a soda can. It's very light and has draw strings on the face and shoulder openings. I like how my face was warm, but I could breath freely. I get claustrophobic when my face is covered when I sleep. Also like that I can pair with a hoodless down jacket in a pinch.
