It's larger, heavier and pricier than some, but it's brilliantly bright and sharp with perfect color reproduction. When switched off, the fan turns on really high for a few seconds, and presumably cools the bulb down sufficiently to pack it right away. It's been a few years since I bought it, and my model doesn't have HDMI input. Aside from that, it was a great buy. Update Nov 2017: I've owned this projector for close to a decade, but used it only about 30 times for a total of maybe 120 hours. The output has developed white spots, indicating that the internal screen has failed. Problem 1: That's an awfully short lifespan, dropped my rating from 5* to 3*. Problem 2: InFocus put me in touch with their authorized repair facility, Mendatronix, who quoted $195 for labor. Sounds reasonable. And what about the part? They refused to quote on that. "You'll need to send it in for an assessment. Which will cost you $85." Wait a minute! We know exactly what part is required, but it will be $85 just to figure out the cost of having this repaired versus buying a new projector? This drops my rating to 2* - a generous rating because it was a good projector while it worked. But after a rotten experience like this, I'm not about to have this repaired by Mendatronix. So it will be a new projector. Not an InFocus. ### ⭐⭐⭐ BEWARE - No HDMI *by I***M on August 24, 2012* I spent a LOT of time researching projectors and learning what makes them good and what makes them bad. I chose this projector out of many options because it was the perfect middle ground between really high and really low quality. There were others similar to this one, similar in price and picture quality, but were lacking in the nice firmware features that InFocus implemented. If you don't have the mind or time to figure out what is the BEST upper-middle class projector, then take my word for it, this is the one you want. HOWEVER - I finally got around to setting this up and am FLABBERGASTED that this product did not have an HDMI port!!! This is HDMI age people, what are you thinking InFocus??? HDMI is CHEAP and easy to integrate! HDMI IS the medium for high resolution - come on!!! I'm SOOOO disappointed that this did not come with built-in HDMI. Really wish I had noticed that during all my research, its the one thing that seemed so OBVIOUS that the project would have, that I didn't even think to verify. This has caused me to waste a few hundred dollars now, because I got all the adapters and system needed to effectively transmit an HDMI high-resolution signal to the projector only to find out the projector won't accept it. Now what am I supposed to do? Buy another $50 item that needs plugged in to transfer hdmi back to analog outputs? Thats so dumb! SUMMARY SO BUYER BEWARE - If you need HDMI do NOT get this projector! Otherwise, its the best of the lot for upper-middle class projector - great picture, great features - but this lack of HDMI is a REAL KILLER for me. PS: Do NOT bother getting InFocus' proposed hardware for transmitting audio/video wirelessly. Their solution dubbed "Liteshow" does not work well at all, and only works on Windoze to boot. The best solution for high-resolution transfer of synchronized audio/video is the HDMI transmitter that I bought - works on all systems that have HDMI output.
