Review: システムに相応しいLPレコードプレーヤーを探していた。最初はデノン（昔からあこがれていた）の中古の3000シリーズを取り寄せたら、回転が爆走して驚嘆。早速返品。次はティアックの（17万円台の）ベルトドライブを新品で購入したが、トーンアームの高さ調整ができるとは言うもののその調整が極めて難儀なことと、MCカートリッジではベルトドライブモーターの音を拾ってしまうことで使用を断念。その次はどうするか、デノンの現代機はデザイン等魅力は全く感じないし、ティアックも球数は多いものの、サエクのトーンアームの高さ調整で難儀するだろうな・・・そこでテクニクスはどうかと探していたところ、ストロボスコープとギンギンのターンテーブル、ピッチコントローラーの無い機種があった。SL-100C-K。ストロボスコープやギンギンのプラッターやピッチコントロールもなく極穏やかな佇まい。価格は新品で（1か月前で）22.5万円。私には要らぬアクセサリーは無くていい。その分、機械の本質を高めてもらいたいと思う気持ちとぴったり合い、画像とスペックを信じて購入しようとした。評価は4.5で、殆どがUSA・カナダ、メキシコ等の横文字ばかりの評価ではあったが、翻訳すると具体的に高い評価が長文で記してあった。日本人のコメントは無いのかと思ったが、清水の舞台から飛び込むように購入を決定した。しかし、品物の到着があまりにも遅い。そのうちメールで出品者からメッセージがあり、「並行輸入品」であると。この品は箱を空けて使用すると返品不可。修理も不可。と来たのだ。一旦はヤラレタ―不良品が来たらどうしようか思いつつ、あらゆる意味でアマゾンさんを信じてSL-100C-Kを受け取ったのだ。覚悟を決めて開梱し、組み上げ、プラッターの回転やスイッチの感触を確かめ、水平をキープして付属のカートリッジで音出しをした。プラッターからの振動音無し、要らぬ雑音なく静寂を感じた。いろいろ操作するうちに、機能とデザインの良さが伝わり始めた。早い話が、今のところ満足している。付属のカートリッジはオーディオテクニカの入門機だったのでそれなりに良く鳴るのだが、このターンテーブルにはそぐわなかった。デノンのDL103Rに交換したところ実力発揮。いろいろカートリッジも試すとそのカートリッジの個性をうまく引き出す能力が高い。ただ、オートリフターはショボい。指の感触がやや安っぽい。レコード内周に入るとオートリフトするとあるがしないですね。ネガは今のところそれだけ。無駄を省いた基本性能のよさに満足している。

Es un equipo muy sólido, es muy notorio el control de calidad que tiene. La primera calibración no fue muy difícil. Incluye todo (a excepción del preamplificador) para que la hagas sonar saliendo de la caja. Escogí este modelo sobre el sl1500c porque en realidad no necesito el preamplificador y de todas formas quería cambiar el cartucho de fábrica. En la foto no lo había cambiado aún. Viene preinstalado un atvm95c que no es para nada despreciable, pero mejorando el cartucho es muy notoria la respuesta de esta tornamesa. Si ya tienes un buen equipo al cual conectarla, vas a sorprenderte con su sonido y vas a brincarte todos esos problemas de ruidos y demás que vienen acompañados de tornamesas más económicas. Una buena pareja para el ifi zen phono. Es muy silencioso, no me gasté un dineral en cableado para conseguir que no suene alguna interferencia o estática, solo me fijé en que el anclaje hiciera un buen contacto, que fuera de calidad el material y que vinieran forrados internamente los cables. Usé el cable de tierra que trae de fábrica la SL100C y lo conecté al preamplificador. Van a un Denon AVR-X3700H. No siento que necesite otra cosa que no sean más discos. Lo encontré a $22,387 a 12 msi a finales de agosto de 2023. Vale totalmente la pena.

**Q: When you depress the cue lever, does the tonearm gently descend onto the record or drop like a rock?**
A: I’d say about halfway between a rock and a feather.  But seriously, it seems to work very well, and I think most people would be as happy as I am with this turntable. If you are enticed by the specs (and I think you should be) you should go ahead and go for it—no buyer’s remorse here!

**Q: Is the 100C a big step-down from the 1200GR?**
A: In terms of the drive system, the marketing specs make them look near identical. The big difference is that the 1200 is for DJ use, so it has pitch controls - very different use case than the 1500 and 100 models, which are for home audio use. The 100 is a step down from the 1500 in that it has no preamp built in, but if you have your own, who needs it? I will say that the 100C also has a pretty terrible stylus on it, but I used the savings over the 1500 to buy a VM95ML replacement stylus and could not be happier with the outcome.

**Q: Does the tonearm lift bar on your unit stay put when lifted or does it drop a few mm by itself?**
A: The lift bar on my turntable always stays a few mm down from the topmost position.

**Q: Works with 220’volts ??**
A: I'm not sure because I've been using it in the US and the US voltage is 110 volts

Well, my last TT was a belt drive Ariston in the 1970's. Loved it but found nirvana with digital music. Scratches, pops and skips all gone. I still kept my collection of vinyl though. So FF to now. Wanted to reminisce with my records once again but with the insane options of TT's due to their revival, lots to choose from. Technics direct drive turntables have always been regarded as good. My research showed the SL-100 was well liked, great reviews and I can see why. It's very well built and quite heavy. The auto-lift feature is really nice. The supplied cartridge Audio Technica AT-VM95C is good. This is a simple TT that should last for a long time and lets me remember that sweet analogue sound from time to time. Highly recommended.
