The more loosely woven the cloth (much cheaper to buy) the more it can shrink, and the more feathers can poke through. Feathers do just fine in the dryer. Work it a little if there are any clumps after you take it out. I wash mine just fine, even in hot water when my dog peed on it. Bleach doesn't hurt 1200 count fabric but don't use it because of the feathers. **Q: could thiscomforter be used as an duvet insert?** A: Yes, it can be used as an insert, hence the tabs on the corners for tying to. 😉 Lol why do people who "don't understand your question" bother posting an answer. 😄 Just baffles me!! **Q: does this comforter have corner tabs** A: Yes, this comforter has four corner tabs . **Q: does the 1200 TC fabric really work - not a crinkly (noisy) sound when it moves around ?? We purchased through Royal Hotel Bedding via Amazon.As everyone knows, it's been a cold winter in the northern hemisphere, so my wife bought a duvet and set about looking for an insert for it. We like the duvet comforters in the Holiday Inn Express chain of motels. While looking for those, we ran across this one offered by Royal Hotel Bedding. After reading many reviews for this one and other duvet inserts, we were careful to order this one from Royal Hotel Bedding since some of the reviews were negative if not bought from Royal Hotel.The comforter arrived quickly and was well packaged in its own zippered storage bag and then in a cardboard box. Following the advice from some reviewers, we immediately washed it in a commercial tumble washer at the local laundromat. This is a very fluffy comforter so make sure you select a large tumble washer. We ran it though two wash cycles. The first with soap and fabric softener. The second with just plain water. Threw it in the dryer, pulling it out occasionally to fluff it out and reinserting it into the dryer to make certain it was well dried and fluffed out.Once dried the fill material evenly distributed. No clumping. No tears to the fabric and no unraveled seams. Everything was intact.The comforter fit perfectly in the duvet. We removed two layers of blankets from the bed, and the duvet with this comforter insert provides more warmth and comfort (less heavy) than what we had before. The wife is very pleased ... and so am I. We are sleeping great. It got down to 12 degrees last night, but we were warm as toast.We are thinking of ordering three more closer to Christmas as gifts for my mom and our two twenty-something kids.This is a quality piece of workmanship. The IKEA duvet was too small at 102 inches and barely covered the bed and it was not warm, despite being labeled are "warm" and having 63oz of fill at IKEA. I religiously slept in pants and long sleeves all winter and went half covered through the night because if the size. We got this because of the size mostly, the 100oz fill weight, the gusset edging and the great reviews and holy buckets it is amazing. We ordered 2 others before getting to this one and I'm so glad we kept looking. This is the one you should order! The oversized king is such a great size at 110 inches! Size is perfect for two humans in a king bed. I can finally sleep with a full blanket and so can my partner. It also covers the mattress on the sides when made, finally!! Also we stripped off all other blankets and just use this. I now sleep in a tshirt and honestly I'm a little warm, so I downed the temp in the house to 64 instead of 66 at night (we are in winter in the northern states so I am reducing the temperature the house had to heat to at night). We will have to remove it for upcoming summer season because we would boil in this, but this thing is so great for winter! And again, so fluffy and soft! Also the duvet noise is there but not in the diaper sounding way the other two were tried prior. I would say it's a comforting cotton crinkle vs the loud plasticy diaper sound other have. Why did I wait so long to look for warmer bedding! And the price was unbelievably reasonable for how much I like this! 5 stars! Well done.
