It’s great on resin, acrylic, hybrid or straight wood pieces. This tool allows you to make shearing cuts which work wonders on both acrylic, resin and wood. The round tool shaft and round, saucer shaped carbide cutter allows you to adjust your aggressiveness. You can rotate the shaft about its axis; the more you rotate it the lighter the cut. While you would never present this tool flat to the work, only a slight angle will give you an aggressive cut and really send the ribbons flying. Rotate the cutter a little more and you can shoot the chips away from you and keep an eye on your work piece instead of the buildup of ribbons. Review: quality tool - im a big fan of Simple woodturning tools. i havent yet mastered this tool, but i do not blame the quality of tool. i wish when i bought high end tools they would come with magnet with the tool logo on it, to stick to my lathe, you know, shop decor..... great tools, i love all of their stuff. i made my own handle for this one, which is a very rewarding project. i just need some stickers or magnets. Review: Does not last. - Dulled very fast. Will try another tip on it to verify. I’ve already used this and one of the other cutters I purchased roughing out a couple of bowls. I find these cut faster that conventional lathe tools. The large handles felt good and gave me great control. It took some experimenting to get the feel for how they cut so start with a practice piece.
