non-slip
these non-slip tape strips are very helpful and comes in handy for hardwood stairs, even for pets. It does apply on clear and can't see it's there.

Solid product - they really do almost disappear!
I was really conflicted about using these strips. I love wood, and when I remodeled my basement and tore the carpet off the stairs and discovered the stairs had REAL wood treads, I was thrilled. I sanded them down and put several coats of poly on them and I was extremely happy with how they looked. But I was concerned that my wife or I might slip on them. They aren't super slick, anyone with shoes on would have no issues, but in socks....? I wanted to put something down to create better traction, but I just HATED the idea of covering up my beautiful steps with something that would visually detract from them. I ordered the strips a week ago and they showed up promptly. I've pondered for the last week and finally decided I just had to put them down. If I didn't and someone slipped and hurt themselves I would feel terrible forever. I didn't need to worry. I'm amazed at how these strips virtually disappear on the steps. Viewed at an angle (like from the top of the stairs looking down or vice-versa) they are essentially invisible. When looked at from directly overhead you can see them but only minimally. See the attached pictures and you'll see what I mean. I used a gloss polyurethane for my finish, had I used a flat or satin finish the strips would have blended in even more. My steps are made of red oak which is a relatively light toned wood. I suspect that on darker steps the strips may be more visible. I don't know that for sure though. The quality of the strips seems very high to me. They're as heavy a gauge of plastic as they can be and still be thin enough to not create a "step" when sitting on the surface of the tread. Even the paper backing seemed to be high quality paper. Since I just put them down today the quality of the adhesive remains to be seen, but I've done a lot of home improvement over the years and the adhesive seems to my eye to be excellent. Installation is simple. It will help the strips disappear if they're installed in the identical location on each step so if you're doing it freehand it helps to have a good eye and a steady hand. If you don't have a steady hand (and even if you do) you may want to create a "jig" so that the placement is exact. A simple board whose length is about the width of your step would work well. You could just rip the board to the proper width, then place the board against the back of the step and then align the strip against the edge of the board. (Ripping a board involves using a table saw, if you don't have one perhaps a friend or neighbor does. Or the big box home improvement stores will generally do it for free.) But since the strips disappear so well don't fret doing it by hand. That's the way I did it and I think it came out fine as far as placement goes. It just depends on how OCD you are. The strips come with a plastic roller to get the strips firmly attached to the steps, use it! You'll see as you roll the strips down that they disappear more the more tightly they're contacting the step. Pay extra attention to rolling the edges of the strips down, you want very solid contact at the edge. Don't just pat the strips in place with your hand, use the roller. So in summary I'm very pleased with how things turned out, and certainly on red oak wood these strips blend in very well. They're well made and shipped promptly and the seller has followed up with several emails to make sure I'm satisfied with my purchase, so I'm guessing if you had any problems the seller would probably be responsive.

Bought these for our dog who slipped on the stairs
We’ve had these on our stairs now for about a year and a half and have been very pleased. Our dog kept slipping on the stairs because they used to have carpet and he wasn’t used to the new flooring (LVP). They were very easy to install and have performed well. Our dog is gone now but we have left them on the stairs because they also help us from not slipping when only wearing socks. They have stuck very well with now edges or corners coming up. They do occasionally require cleaning because we aren’t good about consistently removing our shoes when we come in the house so I have taken a toothbrush and 409 and a container of water and sprayed them with the 409 and then used the toothbrush to clean them. I then used the clean water to clean up the dirty spray. They are grippy so I can’t just wipe them with a wipe but cleaning them this way made a definite difference and it’s time to do it again. We feel like these were money well spent and we have recommended them to several people. We got them for the dog. We’re keeping them for us. Most people don’t even realize we have them in the steps (except when they need cleaning like right now 😳) because they are clear.

Functionality Good, Appearance (To Each Their Own?)
Easy to apply, seems to adhere easily (applied over semi-gloss polyurethane coating; wood stained steps), seems to have sufficient traction/grip for foot traffic, definitely can be easily seen over a darker stain (from almost every angle, except directly above). Certainly detracts from the previously nice sheen once displayed on steps. I decided to use these and not return only because I felt the safety benefit outweighed the cosmetic appearance. It's definitely subjective in appearance, as my spouse didn't like them at all, and I was "just ok" with it. Maybe it will grow on me overtime ?

No bubbles, barely visible, much safer steps
I bought a house about six months ago and it has hardwood throughout (including the stairs). My son (he's 22) fell, while carrying a cup of coffee, and I blamed it on his socks. Then I fell....I was halfway down the steps and I slid down four steps and landed on my hip. I was shaken/bruised but fine. The second time I fell, it was the middle of the night and I slipped on the top step and managed to slide/fall down the full set of stairs (my son said it sounded like a bomb went off). Fortunately, I didn't break anything but I knew I had to do something before someone got seriously hurt. I immediately went online to see what my options were. I didn't necessarily want to cover the wood so I was excited to find this option. Installation - I anticipated having issues with bubbles but I had absolutely none. I think the key is to peel only a couple inches of the adhesive, place it on the step and as you peel the adhesive, roll the exposed part onto the step. It's been about a week and I have no lifting and no bubbles. I honestly expected to have a few bubbles but I don't. Appearance - Maybe because my stairs are a light wood but I can hardly see the adhesive. I don't even notice it. My entire family has commented on how much safer the steps feel. I am grateful for the adhesive every time I walk down the steps. Thank you for an awesome product and for potentially keeping my family out of the hospital...especially during a pandemic.

They look better than a hospital bill!
It took ME an hour to apply product to my first 3 steps, by #4 I had the process down pat and completed the remainder of the project in about 30 minutes LOL. I was over thinking and afraid I was going to ruin my sister's (landlord) stairs. Make sure you position it correctly and do NOT tear off the entire backing. Peel just a couple of inches at a time and smooth it down before peeling off more. It's VERY sticky. If you pull it back up, look closely at my first photo, you can see where a thin layer of "wood" came up with it and I wasn't able to match it up very well. Those pictures are taken today, about 5 weeks after they were put down. I try not to allow shoes, but the AC guys never put on the shoe booties I leave for them, sigh... Also, I found that tearing the excess backing paper about 1/4 way through is helpful. The paper gets in the way. Don't leave yourself too short, that's a pain in the butt too. Buying these had been a difficult decision. My 55 y/o sister would wear hospital socks to prevent slipping down the stairs when she lived here. She fell and was injured numerous times. Not from slipping, "the beauty" of her wood steps couldn't be jeopardized. I prefer to enjoy the feel of my clean floors. If you knock on my door and see me "running" down the stairs to greet you, don't be surprised that I'm naked from the knees down. Seriously, this IS South Florida. My 55-year-old husband was a cowboy in a past life, with habits that carried into this one. He'd get into bed with his boots on, removing only to shower (I'm only slightly exaggerating). Somehow I got him to remove his shoes at the door, slipping into slippers or changing socks was pushing it way to hard. He preferred to show off his reverse engineering skills, repeating his detailed findings, for hours, the how and why he would be sitting instead of standing during his travel down the stairs. In short, his scientific conclusion proved it was the force (my fault) of not wearing shoes. The falls were frequent and he was at high risk of more. So far it had been bruising and staying in bed because he hurt his back. Literally, thousands of people a year DIE from falling down stairs. Neither aesthetics or restoration costs should ever be the priority over safety. Since I installed the strips, there have been no more slips down the stairs. They look better than a hospital bill.

Sofort musste eine Lösung her.
