Easy to put together and took 2 of us 3-4 hours which was ok. They look lovely. Ok for teenagers and for adults occasionally on the lower bunk although not enough distance between the bunks for constant use as an adult can't sit up straight on the lower bunk. Good sturdy steps. My grandchildren love them and they're really secure. My only niggle would be the plastic screw caps - they don't really work as they don't stay on the screw heads. I might stick them with superglue! Also one of the ends was slightly damaged when I checked the box but as soon as I contacted the seller, they sent the replacement within a few days, no fuss or quibble which was good. Review: Now the beds are up they look good and feel strong - One of the pieces was missing, instead of sending me the missing part they sent a huge box - a third of the original delivery so I now have a large amount of wood to get rid of. The dowel holes on three out four of the bedposts were drilled incorrectly, luckily I had a carpenter nearby or I would not have been unable to put them together. Now the beds are up they look good and feel strong. Can you see the grain of the wood and are there any "caps" that can hide the rather unpleasant looking screws / alan keys?** A: I bought these bunk beds to match existing white bedroom furniture and they are a good match. There are a couple of places where the grain of the wood shows through but not much. Yes caps are supplied. I am very pleased with them, they are very well made and by the time they are put together they are very sturdy.Good instructions supplied. **Q: Is it possible to put a trundle underneath? if so, what is the ideal size of the trundle that fits into this?** A: Hi yes I have a number of various sized trundles from ikea under the bed - the plastic drawer from ikea for their kids storage also work well and look good because of the colours - the bed is worth the money and my kids were impressed **Q: , if I have my own mattresses what is the recommended max thickness for the top bunk mattress x** A: The recommended depth for the mattress for the top bunk would be approx. 8inch (20cm). **Q: Are the two top ladder steps really supposed to be vertical or can they go flat like the bottom one? The build quality is good and all holes lined up!! The screws used are substantial and give confidence that the whole thing won't fall to pieces. A nice touch was that the slats were joined together with tape that positioned them in position without you having to work out the distance in between Somebody has given a bit of thought to help the non DIY expert (that's me) put this together. One slight criticism was that the instructions weren' t too special and I would have liked to see more explanation and perhaps larger pictures of some areas.
