I had it in my cart for some time before committing to this item and I am really glad that I did. The gold looks great. When I saw this online I couldn't really understand how this attached to the screen. After receiving the item the double sided adhesive is clear and works well with keeping the screen on. I have not had a problem with the screen coming off and I have not had any problems with it moving. It stays well against the screen. As for what I don't like about but I can live with is the dents. I think after it closes on the computer the keys or certain parts of the computer cause small but insignificant dents. Because of the color and reflection any small dents are very noticeable. Other than that I think its an awesome product. I would definitely recommend this item. My MacBook Pro has a burt orange cover and the filter gives it a custom look. The filter sometimes reflects a golden glow over the computer and it makes it look pretty cool. I have not had any problems with the brightness or view of the Retina Display. Still looks great. I hope this was helpful. It's not strong enough to hold the heavy filter, so it has fallen off twice in two days. This necessitated the need to wrap Scotch tape around the display on a new laptop.I'm writing this one with the above headline so Google will find it to help those searching for a privacy filter to fit the ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 4i. They market this one as being for the Apple, and it is extremely hard to find a gold version of the 3M privacy filter to fit the X1.First, I have never used the black privacy filter, but I know that the gold version is very good, and I have yet to see any reviews that didn't pick the gold over the black. The problem is that these gold ones are getting hard to find.After going through several that didn't fit, this is the closest I have found. It would be nice if it was maybe 1/4" or even an 1/8" higher to to make it easier to get the adhesive low enough as not to get in the way of the taskbar, but this one does work, and I did get the adhesive low enough that it didn't interfere. I applied mine with the top as high as it would go for the camera cutout considerations.It would be nice if 3M would improve the adhesive so you could see exactly where the edge is, but aside from that, these are the best privacy filters I have found. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars What You Can and Cannot Expect *by D***N on Reviewed in the United States on March 6, 2014* What the Other Person Sees - The product drastically reduces brightness and to a slight extent focus and therefore readability to the SIDES. It makes it almost impossible to read text for the person off to the side. They can see the text on the screen, but can't make it out. Additionally, they'd have to make a fool out of themselves to make it out, i.e. since it's no longer possible to glance over and make things out, they'd have to stare at your screen just to TRY and make something out. If you want to surf porn, well it's not for you :-), they'll still make out what you've got on the screen. But if you want to feel as though people can't read what you've got up, whether it's personal notes or Facebook, this does the trick. You can also reduce your brightness slightly to make it all the more unrecognizable off to the side.Who it's Going to Effect - the product stops the people to your SIDES from reading your screen, for instance in a meeting room or on a plane. It does NOT stop someone who is standing behind and looking directly over you from reading your screen.Attachment - I have no need nor desire to attach it permanently so I can't comment on what came with it to do that. My laptop is a MacBook Retina and there is a very slight protruding bezel. The model I ordered fits perfectly and the bezel holds it in place. I just take it right off when done. I was envisioning something like the thin screens that protect smart phones, which create an air tight bond with the screen. Thankfully it's nothing like that, it's a heavy piece of plastic that just sits on the screen and you remove it when done. If you intend to use it temporarily like I do, you'll probably want to make sure your laptop bezel protrudes a a 1/32 of an inch or so. I suspect all do, but am not sure.Visual Performance - it's outstanding. The main thing it does is reduce brightness and affect color purity. If you're sitting in a public meeting and your goal is to have privacy I'm going to guess you don't care whether your colors are off a hair.Comments on 1-Star Reviews - Most of the poor reviews seem to focus on 2 issues:1. The products doesn't work and you can see the screen off to the side. I suppose one of the reasons for this complaint is the ads themselves, which set ridiculous expectations. Fortunately I'm not naive and don't trust marketing and didn't think the product was going to change the rules of physics. The product stops people from reading what's on your screen. OF COURSE people can still make out objects on your screen, lol. FYI the product marketing pics that show what appears to be a blank orange screen is exactly what it looks like - when your laptop is OFF! When it's on objects can be made out, but as mentioned above text becomes unreadable.2. "Bubbles" between the screen. Maybe mine if different but I don't have a clue what this is about. But again, in my case I'm not permanently affixing it, I lay it against the screen, it lays perfectly, and I take it off when done.
