My installation has an over-ride circuit which I switch on manually. This by-passes the PIR and feeds current direct to the lamp. There is also an isolation circuit which prevents the PIR triggering the lamp at times when it is not required. Both these circuits were installed by a local professional electrician. **Q: Can you override the pir by switching the supply to the pir off and on. i require one to replace an old one that did this?** A: Sorry to disappoint you here; I tried it last night, but failed. I have to admit, previous units that I've had, usually integrated, did have this facility, until your question, I'd assumed that this one was the same........alas NO!!! **Q: The failed pir motion sensor which i want to replace had only one wire connected to it. is this the same for this unit?** A: I recently used this Maclean pir to replace a very old one which was purchased from B & Q and became erratic in operation. Both the old B & Q unit and the replacement Maclean unit operated via a four core cable. The four terminals were as follows: live in - neutral - earth - live out. I hope this is of help to you. Hopefully no water ingress for me.
