I had previously been using some 'U' shaped ones, but when I got some more- despite being listed as the same size as those of other makes- they weren't interchangeable (about a half mm difference) which meant the strap from one guitar couldn't be swapped with another etc. Hence switching to these. The images are a bit odd, as when showing the parts they show one and a half items in some pics- one lock for the strap itself and two connectors for the guitar body, one of which with both the screw and soft washer. This is incorrect, and the image of the packet itself is the one to go on. It's two units, each with one strap half and one guitar body part (with screw and washer), that is to say the two connectors required for one strap/guitar. To fit these, the moveable lock part slips through the 'recessed' metal washer- which is the shaped piece that prevents the button from being pressed accidentally. This moveable lock then also pushes through the hole in the strap, and the trick is that this will need pushing through quite far so that you can see the 'slot' onto which the spring loaded clip will need to go. A dunlop branded washer then goes over the lock barrel, on the strap side, and its against this that the spring lock needs to be pressing when applied to the slot. Now this is the tricky bit, as pressing this into place takes a fair bit of pressure, but that branded washer it is pressed against can make it difficult to get some leverage. This is where people are talking about thinking a specialist tool would be handy! The part that fits to the guitar body then just replaces the existing one your guitar will already have. It'll need the screw to be fully in place in order for the locking bolt to go into this clip properly. Don't do this with a power driver as you can damage the guitar body, a standard cross head screw driver will do the job. Review: Solid great design. Piece of mind. - Easy to fit. Much more secure than the strap locks that came with the guitar. I have a Vintage V100. It comes with strap locks. They would always come loose. One day, I went into work in fancy dress as Slash. The original strap locks came loose and the guitar fell off it's strap. Thankfully, I was posing for a photograph, so was able to catch it and no harm done. A Vintage V100 is not an expensive guitar, but it's still not a guitar I want to risk breaking. As I had these Jim Dunlop strap locks installed on a different guitar, I ordered the same for this guitar the very same day I'd dropped it. I didn't want it happening when I was playing. Installation is simple. Unscrew screws holding old strap buttons on guitar and put new strap buttons on (you can either use the same screws or the ones that came with this new Jim Dunlop set). Then the remaining parts of the system fits either side of the strap hole and the horseshoe locks them in place so there is no chance of slipping. Solid design. This was the weak spot on the original strap locks on the guitar and the reason it came loose, it simply passed through the strap slot with no resistance. The horseshoe locks it in place, preventing it from happening. I would also get washers for the strap too. **Q: What is the difference between these, sls1033, and the sls1503? pics & description are very similar.** A: The 1503 may be a discontinued item.
