## Description

The best lenses lead to better images, and the FT1 Mount Adapter lets you attach a range of NIKKOR F mount lenses to the 1 mount on Nikon 1 interchangeable lens camerasFrom extreme wide-angles to super-telephoto lenses and more, you can choose from over 60 lenses to suit your shooting situation or experiment with new creative ideas. When you use an AF-S NIKKOR lens, you can still make use of the Nikon 1 autofocus system and record Motion Snapshots.

Review: Expensive but a 'must have' for Nikon J/V 1 and 2 Owners - If you own any Nikon FX or DX telephoto lenses for your other camera bodies, then you must have one of these adapters for your CX format Nikon J/V one or two camera. The crop-factor of 2.7 enables you to take fabulous long tele-photo shots without any loss of aperture or optical quality as one would get by using a teleconverter. I have a 70-300 f4.5/5.6 zoom which, on the V1, becomes an f5.6 810mm lens! The VR works using this adapter and so one can take 810mm shots hand-held with a lens costing just £450: try doing that on an FX body. Fantastic bit of kit. However, Nikon charge a horrendous sum (around £220) for what is nothing more than a lens mount adapter with a pass-through electrical connection for Nikons G series lenses. But it is very well made (all metal) and works beautifully. One word of warning though; if you mount a VR lens on the adapter, it's energized the whole time and not just when you press the shutter release, and so, you must remember to turn VR off at the lens if you normally shoot with the camera switched on all the time, otherwise you'll have flat battery in no time.
Review: Very useful if you already have the good quality lenses - Works exactly as expected and gives good results. Autofocus and exposure work well. It is well made although a tad expensive. I don't agree though with reviewers who think there is no loss of light as the image circle from an FX or DX lens is much bigger than required for a 1 inch sensor and hence most of the light is not used. I have recently also bought a 70-300mm CX lens and this gives sharper results, but this could be higher lens quality as well as the smaller image circle.

## Features

- Compatible with a wide range of NIKKOR F-Mount D-SLR lenses, the FT-1 adapter offers every chance to match a lens to your shooting situation
- Easy attachment with whichever NIKKOR F-Mount lens you use, it attaches easily and securely to the FT-1 mount adapter on Nikon 1 interchangeable lens cameras
- Autofocus compatibility - if you use AF-S NIKKOR lenses, you can still make use of the Nikon 1 autofocus system
- Vibration reduction - the FT-1 Mount Adapter supports lenses with Vibration Reduction
- The focus indicator (rangefinder) can be used with CPU lenses

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I have a Nikon N4004 camera that has "AF" lens will they work with the FT-1 adapter and my J3 I just purchased ?**
A: The lens will work. It's very difficult to find all the correct information for using an FT-1 with an AF-D lens. So though your question was awhile ago I am posting this answer for others. An AF-D lens will work with any Nikon 1 camera using the FT-1 adapter. Only AF-S lens will allow for autofocus because the focus is built into the lens. However, with this adapter vs a dumb adapter you can use Aperture-Priority, Shutter-Priority, and Programmed modes. The camera can meter. That alone was a sure sell for me. Something else to note is that you may attach your lens and not notice that the aperture has EE. This is an error. I at first thought it meant I had to use the lens to set aperture. To fix this, set your lens to it widest aperture usually marked in orange and lock it. After that the camera will be able to adjust the aperture on its own. That is not in the manual, but is on the Nikon website. All manual focusing is center weighted and the adapter adjusts your focal length by 2.7x. I have read that it is easier to assess your focus through the display. On Ebay you can get the adapter for $180 Used-like New/Mint straight from Japan without bidding including shipment. With bidding I've seen it range with final selling price from $146-$182. I managed did best offer and purchased mine at $175 including shipping.

**Q: Has anyone out there used this with an AW1?**
A: I've used it with an AW1. It worked great with small primes (50mm, even 85mm) but was way to front heavy with large zooms (like the 28-70mm). Only problem I noticed was auto-focus was pretty slow and it had to hunt a lot (worse on the zoom then the primes).

**Q: I have an af-s nikkor 35mm 1.8g lens will it work with this adapter?**
A: Hard to say. Some lenses can be used in manual mode. Others like my 500mm nikor did not work.

**Q: Will this work for a nikkor lens af-s 50mm on a nikon d5200 body?**
A: You don't need this adapter to use the 50mm lens on D5200 body, this adapter is to use NikonDSLR lenses on a Nikon 1 body.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ You've got to get one!
*by B***T on 12 April 2014*

Alright it's expensive! I put off buying this adapter for a long time because of the price. However, now I've bought it I cant imagine being without it. I've used it with a 300F4 Nikkor and a 40mm F2.8 Micro Nikkor and the results have been amazing! The image quality is simply stunning. An interesting feature when used with the micro Nikkor is an increase in the reproduction ratio. With the lens set at closest focus distance the repro ratio is 1:1 on a DX format camera. But adding in the 2.7x crop that the CX sensor imposes is like automatically enlarging the image even further. I now find myself looking at current AFS lens and multipying the focal length by 2.7 to see what I would get! How about an 85 F1.4, transformed into a 230mm F1.4!! The only caveat seems to be that other manufacturers lens dont work properly with it, even those that offer the latest features on the DX cameras?
