## Description

desertcart.com: Spectra479 Blue Light Blocking Clip On Glasses - 99.9 Percent Effective Computer Glasses for Men & Women, Durable Lightweight, Reduce Eyestrain, Headaches and Improve Sleep (Nighttime Lens) : Health & Household

Review: All pros, no cons and no regrets - For others like myself who refuse to follow the medical recommendation to turn off the TV [or phone] an hour or more before bedtime, these are game changers. I want to watch TV using my prescription lenses, so I specifically wanted a lightweight clip-on solution. The spring-loaded clipping mechanism works fine and should fit over lenses approaching 1/4 inch thick. It's too soon to know, but I hope it will continue to work through many on-off cycles in the coming months and years. Note that these do not 'flip up', which I perceive to be a positive. I didn't want to pay more for that feature; I don't want extra parts adding weight and being something else to break; and intermittently seeing blue at night seems to me to defeat the whole purpose. I just watched a video by a scientist who claims that blue-blocking lenses need not wrap around the side of your eyes. Blue rays in your peripheral vision are an almost insignificant part of the nighttime problem. He alleges most of the receptors of interest are located in or near the retina. I conclude the clip-on solution is sufficiently effective for my purposes. These lenses appear to be made from the amber-colored material. I see no evidence that these are clear lenses with a cheap colored coating as I've heard is the case for other similar products. It's too soon to tell if these have any scratch-resistance, and I probably wouldn't have wanted to pay extra for such a feature, but I intend to handle them carefully and then faithfully store them in the nice case they arrived in. Somebody somewhere is going to complain that blue-blocking makes things "look weird". So does taking Sildenafil where everything looks blue. So does scuba diving where the reds become undetectable. It's not a matter of clarity - the lenses seem flawless - it's what the world looks like without [the majority of] blue color. The benefits are worth the effort to adapt to things looking this way for an hour or so at the end of each day. I didn't want to invest a bunch of time right now researching the science behind this - I just wanted to block a huge part of the blue light spectrum and see if I could improve what my sport watch has been telling me is 'poor' sleep. The results from the first night were promising, but I knew it was entirely possible that other factors could be responsible. Several weeks' sleep reinforced the first night's findings - these lenses definitely improve what my watch detects for sleep quality, and there's no question that I fall asleep almost immediately now. This is a well-made product that performs exactly as needed, purchased hassle-free, and delivered promptly. I think the value of improved sleep for this price is exceptional. I would highly recommend Spectra479 lenses in any form factor from Zendustries.
Review: Pretty good (not a paid review) - So I've been doing a lot of research on this stuff and trying to figure out what would be the best option... - I knew that I needed something that would just clip over my prescription glasses, because I didn't want to have to put on my contacts to use a product. - A friend recommended blue light glasses for general sleep hygiene, which may in turn help with my ADHD symptoms. While I can't speak on that just yet, I will set a reminder to update this review in a week so that I can assess sleep quality/motivation stuff. If it improves sleep quality, I will update my review. -I also would like to add that this is NOT a paid review, which I've been super wary of when it comes to desertcart reviews. I am hesitant to trust rave/ "BUY THIS NOW!!!" type reviews. I decided to write a review so that people like me might have an easier decision process when it comes to newer products that might be considered snake oil. PROS: -Definitely block out blue light. I am wearing the amber lenses. While outside, I accidentally put regular garbage into my blue recycling bin instead of the black one. -Easy spring mechanism to clip on. I don't need a flip-up, and I read that they didn't add it to minimize weight. I don't know how much it would add to the weight, but the clip-ons are definitely light enough for my needs. -Noticeably ease eye strain. I didn't realize how much direct sunlight caused eyestrain, but it definitely made a difference outside (no squinting, less need for my eyes to adjust). -Satisfactory build quality. I haven't compared them other glasses, but these definitely do not feel like I was scammed/cheap-ed out on. -Comes with a microfiber(?) carrying case. CONS: -The glasses are very slightly asymmetrical in assembly on the spring mechanism, which doesn't affect the functionality of the glasses. If the company is not a huge manufacturer (which I've read they are not), I can forgive this. -I did notice there was a slight bit of glare reflected when faced away from the sun. -There's not much pizzazz with the box it comes in, nor any special offers/marketing material, but I guess it's a pretty utilitarian purchase. CONCLUSION: While these are higher in price than other products, I think the overall blue-blocking is very effective. The build quality is good, but not 100% perfect. The design is simple, and it covers my larger-frame high bridge lenses quite well-- probably about 1/4 of an inch is not covered on my lenses. I also like the retro look, but this is just personal preference. Won't make any recommendations for anyone else, but I'll say I don't regret the purchase. EDIT 7/29/21: So I've been using them for a little bit now, and I can say that I like them a lot. They seemed to have a pretty good effect on making me able to sleep faster -- I could be on my phone in bed and still feel the need to sleep. It's difficult to say on whether the overall quality of my sleep is better, but I think the ability to fall asleep easier is worth it to me. They are well made and worth the cost, IMO.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can you specify the transmission of the glasses? Specifically do they remove transmission of light below 530nm? Thank you**
A: Excellent question!
They block 100% at 500nm and below , 99.2% at 510nm, 98.1% at 520, and 96% at 530nm

**Q: Do these clip-ons also flip up?**
A: In order to keep them as lightweight as possible, we opted not to use a flip up clip. Besides, once it's nighttime and you put them on you shouldn't be peaking anyways :-)

**Q: What is the manufacturer's warranty in terms of the clip-on breaking from normal usage?**
A: I don't believe I ever did notice a warrantee. They seem to be a pretty durable poly carbonate. They have some flex and very light. My take is that there's not much concern at all in dropping them or tossing them around. Of course if you stepped on them and crushed I would predict they may be a goner.

**Q: Does it tint the computer screen? I need to know color accuracy when working on graphics.**
A: Yes you certainly cannot block out all blue light without distorting colors. Blue and green will be indistinguishable and whites will look amber. You will get used to the color shift surprisingly fast but they are definitely not suitable for graphic design or other color sensitive work.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Awesome blue screen blocking glasses.
*by C***L on August 1, 2026*

This is a great item to relieve your eyes from fatigue with blue screen.. when I watch TV with these on before I go to bed ,I sleep better and easier to fall asleep. I only have the amber color so it changes the color on your screen. Never tried the clear ones. I bought one for each of my family members.they are clip on so they fit perfectly over my eyeglasses.
