Review: The First Strap Wrenches That Actually Work, For Me Anyway... - I have used these twice during the oil changes of my motorcycle and my truck, and both wrenches work really well! Until I saw, and ordered, these wrenches, I had struggled with oil filter cap wrenches, metal strap wrenches, and had finally found success with a large pair of channel lock straight jaw pliers to remove oil filters, though destroying the filters in the process. TuffMan Tools has definitely created a winner with these two filter wrenches. Loosening oil filters is actually a genuine possibility with these wrenches, and the rubber strap doesn't seem to be affected by grime and grease on the filter, it just grabs hold and gets the filter turning. I hope these wrenches last a long, long time and when it's time to replace them, I hope they're still in production.

Unlike the usual metals ones sold for kitchen use, this one doesn’t destroy the lid when opening it. I keep it in a kitchen drawer with other small tools and not with items like spatulas that touch food, since the rubber strap is not food grade. However, some reviews say the rubber comes off and I have zero problem with this when using it dry or slightly damp with water. I suspect that if you get a solvent on the rubber, which motor oil basically is, then the black rubber degrades. Another way black rubber degrades is by leaving it in the sun. I do neither of these things in my kitchen. Love this strap wrench in my kitchen!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Where can I find instructions on how to use this as I'm totally ignorant and so far I can't even remove a jar lid with it?**
A: Place the rubber loop over the lid with the serrated edge side of the wrench facing the direction you want to turn. Presumably, you are opening a jar so it will be on the right side.  Pull the rubber loop snug and turn to the left (counter clockwise). The wrench should grip the lid and open it will.

**Q: Will this work on a motorcycle oil filter?**
A: This works very well in locations where there is room to grab the oil filter from the side. For engines with an oil filter that can only by turned from the top, you need an adjustable oil filter adapter or a fixed size hexagonal fitting.

**Q: What is the smallest diameter that these tools will open? I see the largest diameter being mentioned, but there's no trace about the other end.**
A: Pretty much as small as you want. You can pull the strap almost flush to the plastic, though I think you'd be hard pressed to find something to use it on that's small enough to require it. The plastic between where the strap is anchored and the slot it slides through is maybe 1/4" on the smaller strap wrench, so the limit is basically how closely the strap curves across that. Definitely smaller than a pencil, but larger than a pin. A 2" diameter or so is probably the smallest you could go and still get the leverage benefit of the pad on the strap wrench.

**Q: Can I turn a 3/4 inch pvc pipe with this wrench?**
A: Yes. I actually bought these to tighten 4 inch seal tight connectors. The smaller one will be better for the 3/4 inch

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ideal for basic plumbing

I needed a tool to undo a stubborn faucet handle. Unfortunately this tool didn't work. I tried it on a shower head, and it worked perfectly. I didn't test the larger tool as I do not change my own oil. I recommend this product for basic plumbing such as shower head and the like where you don't want to scratch the chrome, it's ideal for that, but for me it didn't work unfortunately. I need a tool that has a fixed, strong grip that's also not going to scratch the chrome. The search continues...
