It smells like chemicals and the paint won't stop coming off. I'm too nervous to put it in the tank.** A: I got the two pack and have been soaking them for about three weeks now. They still smell like chemicals and they did flake off a bunch of black paint from the inside of them. I'm returning one of them and I'm going to continue to soak the other one as I really do like the concept and would love to use this in my tank but not until the chemical smell stops first. There was also a kinda like rainbow across the water quite a few times kinda like when car oil or gasoline is on water. So I've been changing out the soaking water almost every day. If you get one of these make sure to soak it for way longer than the 1-2 days as suggested! **Q: what are the dimension of this item** A: The dimensions of the Zoo Med Floating Log is 3" L x 2 1/2" W and the measurement around is 10". No paint peel at this time. The log itself looks to be made of plastic polymer of some kind, and I don't think it's painted per se. Sam loves his log btw. Probably the most used item in the tank. **Q: I bought this recently and after reading some of the reviews I'm scared to actually put it in my betta tank. Should I return it or just brave it??** A: I've personally had no issues with mine. My betta loved it from the moment I put it in his tank, it's one of his favorite hangout spots!
