I have a very good background in electrical components to include soldering, so this installation may have been a little easier for me than someone without an electrical background, but with the company’s videos, I have no doubt just about anyone could split a Philips Hue Light Strip relatively easily. The pictures I included are from before and after installation, the first is with my overhead light on, the second with only the light strip on. If you purchase this, make sure to watch the videos closely before making any cuts to the light strip. I had no issues with my cuts. The only issue I had was one of the connections on the solder points was not making complete contact so not all of the LED’s were lighting up. It just extends the connection. The lights stay the same brightness when connected. **Q: Want light strips on the bottom & top of cabinets-need to snake thru cabinets to cont on top. Can I cut the lt strip- use conectr & use cut strip?** A: There is a way to do this, but it involves hand soldering. If you feel confident in your tech skills, you can google it. This cable, however, is just for connecting 2 complete strips together. I put a long strip on top of my cabinet, a short strip under my cabinet, and connected them with this cable, and it works great. **Q: Can you cut the strips to put under kitchen cabinet** A: If you cut strips you cannot extend them. If you are say running the 6' and then using the jumper between the 6' and a 3 foot it is okay to cut a portion off the end of the 3 foot, however the unused/cutoff portion is unusable. I spoke with Thomas (I believe the owner of the company selling the extensions) and he stated that he would look into a fitting that would connect two cut pieces together. Thank you Litcessory ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Simple and Effective *by N***N on July 6, 2020* This cable provides functionality that nothing Philips Hue offers directly can. Being able to extend my light strip without just adding more lights was a huge factor in my design for our under cabinet kitchen lights, and this product along with the cut end adapters made that virtually painless. This all comes with the caveat that it is a bit more fiddly than installing the strip lights with just a cut or just using light to light extension connectors, but if you want to extend either over a range or around some other obstacle, there is nothing else that can do so as easily. The cable was plenty long enough to go up and over my range inside of my cabinets. It was easy to determine its orientation throughout the drop to confirm that it was plugged in correctly on the other side. And it has worked flawlessly to connect my split light strips and provide a clean look for our kitchen.
