Its plastic with a silver top which is nice looking. A blue LED on the side lights up when there is activity and it looks nice. A single old-style Micro USB-B port on the side with 2 cables for USB-A and USB-C. The cables are color coded which is convenient. Because it is a spinning hard drive it does go to sleep when not in use and there is a noticeable delay when waking up. Its quiet and there is no heat during continuous use. Its fast enough to stream videos from and I do use it to store movies, with direct playback.
