I've never tried a reel mower before and once I tried it, I quickly realized- Reel mowers are by far the best way to mow your lawn if you don't mind a bit of tinkering to keep the blades sharp and in spec (the blades don't touch.) Pushing a gas mower has its own issues, such as spark plug fouling, bad gas from last year, etc., to keep things in perspective. Pushing a gas mower is a chore, whereas this is quiet, almost therapeutic. I have no experience to compare brands, but here are my shopping notes: Scott makes arguably the best mower that has wider cutting path, greater range of cutting height, and gets great reviews. Fiskars gets great reviews as well, adds some proprietary features that allow for longer intervals between sharpening and cuts almost as wide as the wheels, which is great for mowing along a fence. Greenworks has a four year warranty and makes a good product. It would appear that the Gardena model 4018 (or 400 as per Gardena's website) is the newest version, it has a 15.75" cutting width, which is a bit wider than previous models. It's a quality made product, time will tell how well it holds up- many of the other reviews state that this product is designed to last a lifetime and I don't doubt it. Personally if it makes it five years I'd buy another one.

This does not work. As a pretty strong and able-bodied woman, I was still willing to assume that I was simply not strong enough to use this. I had to push with all that I had, and the best I could get was a very clunky two or three feet at a time that was littered with clumps and missed spots. But when my husband saw me struggling, made several attempts himself, and had no better results, I knew it was the mower itself. I was going to return it because I had only used it once, but it was challenging to get the UPS store and get it packaged and I missed the window.

Works better than even the old, USA-made models made by American Mower or USA-made Sears Craftsman.

Only a few parts to easily assemble then it's push and play. Cuts well, is easy to push and turn, and removes the wasted time and hassle of fuel cans or electricity cables. I haven't used a push mower in over 30 years and hadn't appreciated how much easier they are to use in their current versions. I'm keeping the grass fairly long as the climate here is 40 degC so I've simply used one of the pre-set adjustments that is very easy to move between. I read other reviews before purchase that outlined the method and tool(s) needed to set to low cutting heights, but I'm not going to tinker with it and will continue to use at the pre-set adjustable cutting heights. Stores away easily enough and is light enough to move into the garden shed without any bother. Overall, I'm happy that I took the decision to buy this push mower.

Great for flat terrain and frequently maintained grass. It jams on any kind of bumps and can’t mow taller grass, so keep that in mind before purchasing.
