I have hunted and practiced shooting using inexpensive headphones or ear plugs but you can't hear what anyone around you is saying nor hear any wildlife approaching through the woods. I took these hunting the other day and placed them on, noting how quiet everything around me was. Then I turned them on and wow...I could hear the birds a ways off as well as other wildlife around me. Even the rain sounded like a hard downpour but wasn't. Just be warned...if your stomach growls it will sound like a bear under your stand! I really like these and look forward to wearing them on the range soon as well. Highly recommend these earmuffs and the case that goes with them. The case has a small compartment for extra batteries and the earphone wires for plugging to your phone. I have an OC Tactical cover on my Impacts (wraps the headband) and with it on the fit in the case is very tight - not so tight I can't zip it shut, but it requires a little "extra pressure" to get the earpro in to the case. Seems durable, though it hasn't left the house yet so there may be a follow-up to this review at some point if my hunch proves wrong. As soon as I unzipped and opened, the pouch fell out. Whatever glue was used had deteriorated and needs to be hot glued back into place. I figured it was solid, while not the end of the world, I expected a better durability for a pouch that will likely get more abuse from batteries and cable going in and out frequently. Not the worst thing in the world, but initial thoughts about something falling out of a "durable" case, it strikes me as poor quality. While I'm sure a simple repair job on my part will fix this, just slightly put off. However others reviews seem to totally enjoy this case! I have a second one I ordered for an additional set of electronic ear pro. I'm not going to bother sending these back, just something to note. I'm probably just a rare case, for all I know the weather froze the glue.
