This was almost impossible to start my P1500 because of direct drive, because it is like adding a flywheel to the end of the shaft, and caused kick-back issues. Then after it finally started, it broke the flexible cable that could not handle the forced torque of RPM changes. This would not have happened with a clutch model, which the P1500 does not have. The clutch takes some of the torque pressures off during extreme RPM changes. **Q: Will this work on a Stihl grass trimmer?** A: Yes, the Orbitrim will be able to accomodate most Stihl models. The Orbitrim will not work with electric, battery-operated, walk-behind or clutchless trimmers. Check to make sure that your weed trimmer has a clutch before using it with the Orbitrim. To check, try starting your engine; if the trimmer head rotates while starting your trimmer, your trimmer is clutchless and will not be able to work with the Orbitrim. **Q: Will this work to protect my Cedar fence when trimming how close to fence will it get** A: I'd say generally speaking, Yes; you control it and the outer ring prevents damage. I recommend you get the Stainless Steel version, I found out it was offered after purchasing mine. Now let chat about the Pro's & Con's. Overall I like the device, was not hard to install and my "Wife" was using it today as she likes it too. Having bought and used all the different versions, the biggest advantage is not bumping.... Or changing anything (string, wire, blades, etc.). Even the blades I bought wore down rather quickly and had to be replaced. So I like not wasting time doing all that. With the perimeter closed, it does not do some things as easy as the open styles, higher growth can be difficult and I prefer the hedge trimmer as didn't have much luck using this. You need to work it back & forth to get the growth inside the circle to cut it. It's Ok as that takes less time than changing things! ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This product is great! It probably doesn't deserve 5 stars but I saw so many bad reviews that it didn't deserve that I gave it an extra star. If your weeds are over a foot tall it isn't great. But if you're a homeowner that cares about his yard like me and you are going to use it to clean up around the sidewalk and the kids swing set it is flat out AMAZING!! I will never ever go back to the string. In fact after my first use I ordered two more so that I would have spares. I did have to drill out the receiver end to fit it to my Husqvarna but I was glad I did: It did not fall out of balance or strip my gears. I only ran at about 1/2 throttle though. I very highly recommend this product!!!!Update; after two uses I decided to get a little crazy and used a flat file to put a sharper edge on the blades. It made a big difference, but I'm not sure its a great idea, If I continue to hand-sharpen it i'm sure that sooner or later it will get out of balance which will lead to trouble. Still, this little guy seems like a gimmicky product but it is NOT. ### ⭐ I got this as a Father's Day present and will ... *by V***N on July 16, 2016* I got this as a Father's Day present and will cherish it accordingly, but it is a disappointing device in application. I use a variety of trim line devices in lawn maintenance, including a brush mower and two weedeaters. One of the latter has an edger attached all the time for convenience.This device seemed compelling to do all the tasks of my trim line devices, but sadly it excels at none of its functions.As a weed trimmer, it cannot get close to walls due to its outer metal ring. It also makes the trimmer itself front-heavy and therefore challenging for cutting wider swaths of grass evenly.As a hedge trimmer, it is impossible to cut across the top of hedges for obvious reasons. If you need a standard trimmer for the tops of hedges, this device won't save you any time.And finally, it fails its most utterly at edging. In my area, sidewalks are poured nearly at ground height so an edger has to have a vertical blade approach to do the job. The steel ring prevents such use completely. If you watch the videos for this device, you'll note they "edged" near concrete walkways several inches in height over the grass.My final complaint regards the installation. The directions nobly attempt to describe every trimmer manufacturer combination on the market (and adequate bolts and washers are provided) but most require a considerable amount of disassembly of the trimmer head first. If this unit becomes a permanent fixture of your trimmer, that may be acceptable....but it won't be on for long, I promise. ### ⭐⭐⭐ This could be a good product, unfortunately it absolutely does NOT work with ... *by O***N on July 24, 2016* This could be a good product, unfortunately it absolutely does NOT work with electric trimmers. The advertisement says works with almost all gas trimmers, does not mention electric either way, so we took a chance and ordered it anyway.I am not complaining because I took on my own risk so I will keep the Orbitrim but wanted to let anyone else who has an electric trimmer that it might not work for you either.What you need to check is whether your trimmer has a hole in the bottom of the rotating section that will accept a bolt.
