We have found the oral irrigator to be extremely effective in cleaning the gum line of plaque and tartar. If you are using a Waterpik wp-100 or Aquarius, the reservoir holds about 2 cups of water. The typical recommended dose is 1 scoop (1/4 teaspoon) per cup of water. If you are just getting started, we often recommend doubling that dose for the first two weeks then backing off to the one scoop per cup ( 2 scoops in the reservoir). Remember as you use the waterpik, the goal is to irrigate the gum/tooth margin. Start with a mid to low setting to avoid using up the mixture too quickly and systematically irrigate all quadrants.
