I tried changing the heat setting on the tube up and down without success. I tried securing a towel around it with chip clips and rubber bands which also didn't work. I tried tucking the tube under the blankets which worked somewhat, but the water spitting into my nostrils from the nasal pillow was still waking me up frequently, and I had to keep flicking it out. I used this hose cozy for the first time last night, and I couldn't believe I actually slept through the night. This cover is several inches shorter than my tube, but it doesn't seem to change the effectiveness. I have it all the way up to the machine at that end. It's really just a fleece tube with a zipper, but it works. I think the simplicity of the design affords a pretty universal fit. My cats chewed on my old hose but when I upgraded to a heated hose didn't want to take the chance. So far so good, but I also now put it away when I am not using it. It is a nice cover. Much better than the fleece covers that you slide on. **Q: Is this machine washable?** A: Yes. Handwash or machine wash on delicate. When I ordered this, I was expecting the material to be thicker and, therefore, more insulating. The reality is that it's about as thick as one layer of winter fleece. The description states it fits hoses up to 6 feet long. The product itself is about 5 feet, 6 inches long, which makes it a bit short unless there is some proscription against covering the hose end-to-end of which I am unaware. However, the fact it does not cover the hose end-to-end is immaterial. Prior to ordering this, my wife made a covering for my CPAP hose out of winter fleece (thus the material thickness comparison above). The covering she made was not sufficient to stop rain-out on its own. When I put this new covering on the hose, I put it on *over* the covering my wife made for me. The two of them together not only put an end to rain-out, but I am not getting a single drop of condensation at all - and that is in spite of the fact the hose is not covered end-to-end. (And I keep the humidity on my machine at 4 [of 8], and the temperature at 72 degrees.) The back end of the zipper hangs off the back of the covering. (This would be the fully unzipped position.) This is important because if it wasn't like this, then the covering would be difficult to fit over the hose. This is the end I put on the machine-end of the hose. When the covering is fully zipped up, the zipper is near my face. This may or may not be an issue for some people; for me, it is not an issue. That said, my hose connects to my mask at the top of my head. However, even if yours connects near your face (or at the front of your mask), I don't think the position of the zipper will be a problem for most people because you can position the covering to stop a few inches short of your face. If you do that, the zipper will never touch your face.
