## Overview

Seachem HyperSorb 100ml is a premium synthetic adsorbent designed to remove organic waste, toxic vapors, and pollutants from all types of aquarium water. It outperforms traditional carbon by stabilizing ionic balance without affecting pH, and it can be regenerated nearly 100% with household bleach for repeated use. Ideal for maintaining crystal-clear, odor-free water in marine, brackish, and freshwater tanks.

## Description

Seachem's HyperSorb™ is a premium synthetic adsorbent with outstanding organic removal capacity and ionic management abilities; it removes organic waste, toxic vapors and other pollutants. It is ideal for all types of water, including marine, brackish, and a broad spectrum of freshwater from acid to alkaline. In freshwater it will help stabilize the ionic balance and will help control ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. It has all the advantages of carbon and none of the disadvantages. HyperSorb™ changes color progressively as it becomes exhausted, and then can be easily regenerated with ordinary household bleach. Regeneration is near 100% effective and can be performed repeatedly.

Review: Hypersorb better than purigen! Removes odor completely! - I've been using purigen the past year, and is wasn't keeping my aquarium clean as far as smell, etc. fish aquariums smell even if you maintain them regularly, your human company that comes over will tell you that even if you become acclimated to the smell. I hate that fishy sometimes foul aquarium smell, purigen only works as water clarifying product. So I did research and tried hypersorb. This product is amazing, not only does it clarify your water to chrystal clear basis, it removes the funky fish tank odor completely. Now I have sand substrate, which comes with its own issues with cleaning, and even with me doing 25% water changes bi-weekly, fishy odor is still a problem. I think hypersorb is highly underused and underrated since it acts as a type of super duper cleaning carbon removing fish odor, organic and inorganic impurities and clarifies the water even better than purigen. Purigen only removes impurities particles that cloud water, not everything. Remember, aquariums are recreating outside lakes, rivers, etc and we have organic and inorganic wastes in our aquariums, purigen does not remove both, only one. Hypersorb seems to remove both, so I'm cleaning my purigens to pack it up and I'll be using hypersorb exclusively from now on. And I'm buying more hypersorb, it is also recharged just like purigen, but it's better in my opinion, unless you don't mind a funky fish tank😉
Review: Works great - Works great not sure if as good as purigen hard to say but it removes junk from water . With EVERY media I use I put it in container of water for couple days before using it as do not risk change in ph and after 2 days rinse it out put in filter and works great .

## Questions & Answers

**Q: can you use TOO much hypersorb? will jungle start right damage this? does this remove things that carbon does? and do i have to use buffer?**
A: This is a direct replacement/upgrade to carbon; and if you use more than necessary, it won't harm your aquarium stock. Over usage will allow Hypersorb to last longer because there's more to go around. Also, I don't have a clue about jungle start. Using a buffer is not a necessity. Remember, Hypersorb is a much better alternative to carbon. The following is my personal belief/experience: Carbon=GOOD Hypersorb=BETTERPurigen=BEST.

**Q: Will this remove tannins?**
A: It didn't work for me. Purigen does work though

**Q: Is this as fine as purigen? I love purigen and know that purigen will really only stay in "the bag"**
A: I bought this in the 100ml size and it stayed in the mesh bag it came with. If you are using bulk from a container, someone suggested to me to use a women's nylon stocking to contain purigen and/or hypersorb. I haven't tried it yet. I am staying with purigen after trying hypersorb. I use this in a Intank media rack in my Biocube 29. Both are for organic waste removal. But... According to Seachem, Purigen also "polishes" the water. For me, Purigen seems to outperform Hypersorb in my saltwater tank.

**Q: Is it ok to use if you have invertebrates?**
A: Hello
It should be ok, hypersorb is just a alternative to carbon. I use it instead of carbon sometimes & and I have snails & discus. It removes odors & organics when I’ve used it.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great product I love it
*by S***N on May 16, 2015*

Great product I love it!! I've read that some don't know the difference between this product & Purigen. This product is to remove odder, organic waste, toxic vapors, & other pollutants from the water. Purigen is NOT a adsorbent product. Purigen removes soluble & insoluble impurities from the water making it crystal clear. I am now using this product & Purigen in my filter pads & my filter box has NO gross fish/aquarium scent anymore & the water is crystal clear. These products are used in 4 aquariums & my goal was to clear up confusion about the difference between the two products. I recommend Seachem products & I use all their freshwater products to maintain my 4 tanks.
