For those who might be wondering, this is very stiff, in other words it has no flexibility which makes it even better for getting deep into the muscle area. A: I think it's probably acrylic, very strong and hard. This was the first shape I found that didn't break from the amount of pressure I put on them. I lay on it, on the floor, and let it touch. I buy a lot of massagers. I think it's the best one. I use it a lot
