Review: Great trimmed down, lightweight multitool with a good complement of tools. - One of my favorite Leathermans, I have many Leathermans, like a crazy person. All over the house, in every car and motorcycle plus i carry one everywhere i go for the last 30years…the original, Waves, wingman, surge, skellatool, Rebar, curl…Wave plus will beat this in almost every way. More and nicer tool selection on the wave, just look at it and you’ll see. The P2 is lighter and has easy access to all tools on the outside. The easy one hand opening for the pliers is the only reason to buy this over the wave. Fit and finish on the P2 is nicer as well. Another thing is no bit and micro driver so there’s no little pieces to loose. Also the plier handles close smaller on the p2 so it’s better for smallish hands. It’s definitely an amazing tool but the wave or wave plus is very hard to beat. If I am only allowed to have one it would be the Wave…or maybe the Surge however if you like higher end kit you may like the free series for fit and finish. One more to check out is the Leatherman Curl, looks like a wave without the saw and serrated blade and it’s a lot cheaper. No one ever talks about it but it’s awesome also has the same clip as the p2. Hope all this nonsense helps. Rock on!

**Q: Are the pliers spring loaded?**
A: They are not.

**Q: What is EDC?**
A: Every Day Carry. It’s the things that you tend to carry with every day like knives, pens, multitools, phones, wallets, etc.

**Q: Does this have a lanyard loop?**
A: It doesn’t that I know of.  That being said it is my favorite EDC mulit-tool and I have them all.  The P4 might have a lanyard loop.

**Q: when will it come in black?**
A: Currently, Leatherman does not have plans for color variations in the FREE series. That may change in the future, but any potential cosmetic changes to the product will not happen for at least a year, likely longer.

I’m very surprised just how good this tool is. Love the one~handed operation. It carries a lot smaller than it is. I upgraded from a sog Powerpint and gained a much better tool that takes about the same amount of space in my pocket. Very happy with my choice. Shame Leatherman discontinued the Free line.
