Game Changer for Falling Asleep
Absolutely love these! The sound quality is perfect for sleep—clear, balanced, and really relaxing without being overpowering. What really makes them stand out is the comfort. I can sleep on my side with no discomfort at all, which was never possible with regular headphones or earbuds. The headband is soft, stays in place all night, and I love that I can pull it down over my eyes like a sleep mask—such a simple but awesome feature. They’ve become part of my nightly routine and have made a noticeable difference in how easily I fall asleep. If you’re looking for comfortable sleep headphones that actually work and sound great, these are it. Highly recommend!

Room For Improvement, But Very Helpful
I've had trouble sleeping for years, and have found that listening to a white noise app with binaural beats really helps. However, I have fairly small ears, which hurt after having ear buds in for a while. Ear buds also don't work when I want to turn onto my side (due to back issues, I can't sleep in the same position all night). I stumbled onto this product by accident. I didn't realize anyone made something like this, and I was pretty excited to give them a try. I ordered a pair (without realizing that my husband, whom I'd told about them, had also ordered a pair for me as a surprise). The pair my husband ordered arrived first, so they were the first ones I tried. One of the headphones didn't work. I contacted the company about it, and they were incredibly helpful and responsive. They sent out a new pair of the headphones themselves, which I was able to put into the original band. (The headphones arrived within a few days.) For the past two months, I've used the SleepPhones every night and for some naps as well. Here's the good: --They are MUCH more comfortable than trying to wear earbuds --The band is comfortable as well --They allow me to listen to my white noise apps while sleeping on my side or my back, which has really helped with my sleep --The cord (which some people have commented about being too short) is as long as that of any other standard set of headphones/earbuds, which is more than enough for most people to set their device next to them on the bed or the nightstand Here's the bad: --The band doesn't have any elastic beyond whatever is woven into the fabric, and has a tendency to slip out of place during the night --After two months of use, the set of headphones in the SleepPhones I bought (not the ones that have been replaced) stopped working on one side last night, so they seem to be fairly delicate/unreliable even without being used roughly in any way I'm hoping that the company will replace this set of headphones as quickly as the last set. (I'm glad that I have my backup SleepPhones in the meantime.) If you're having trouble sleeping, these are worth a try; just be aware of their limitations. Additional Note 10/8/15: I did receive a second replacement set of headphones, but they had developed a short where one side stopped working already a couple of weeks ago. My cat then chewed through the cord of my last working set. I've ordered two more (WAY over-priced) sets of the headphones to put into my existing bands. I hope they're more durable than the three sets that broke over the past 10 months, but I'm not holding my breath.

The speakers were pretty much in the right position
I received my first "pair" of SleepPhones (black felt, medium) yesterday and used them last night while falling asleep, so the review is for my initial impressions and not long-term durability. It took me a minute to figure out the proper way to wear them -- I think the label goes up by the top of your forehead, facing in a way that someone looking at you would be able to read it -- this leaves the speaker wire hanging down your back. The speakers were pretty much in the right position, but I did have to nudge one of them a little to get it in front of my ear. My first experience with them was listening to a guided visualization/meditation, binaural ASMR style (ASMR stimulates a relaxing sensory response in some people). Right away, I was very impressed with the speaker quality. I would say it is as-good as my $200 on-ear pair, but far and away more comfortable for sleeping. The headphones become one with the pillow and are almost "invisible" in that sense. I say "almost" because the headband itself, while a perfect fit for me (average size women's head), was a tiny bit uncomfortable and warm, but it's a minor detail overall and I can't really think of a better way to get speakers to stay on my head (except to try the molded in-ear headphones, which I've yet to shell out for). I'll add that I have tried LOTS of different headphones and never really found any of them to be comfortable for more than 30 minutes or so. The SleepPhones were far more comfortable, sounded great, and did not bother my ears at all! Given how comfortable they are, I am curious to try a headband made from a lighter fabric for daytime use. For night-time, however, the soft plush felt is the way to go, IMO. Moving on... the cable is braided and although thin is nice quality and doesn't get twisted up like some of the thicker cable styles. There cable is long enough to place your playing device (iPhone, etc.) on the bed-stand, but I would say it is just long enough for this purpose and you can't really move. While you can purchase aux cable extenders, an extra foot of length would be nice to have and I can't see how it would add much to their manufacturing costs. I think this point has been made by other reviewers. When my meditation ended, I woke up enough to take these off, meaning I did not sleep through the night with them. Judging by my experience, I expect that they would be comfortable for many hours of sleeping/wear and the only problem would be tangling yourself in the cable when moving in your sleep. I have fallen asleep with regular headphones (my v-moda on-ear) and the extended pressure causes discomfort on the ears that can last for an hour or more. I think the SleepPhones would even be suitable for side sleeping since I turned by head to the side while wearing them, and the speaker is so low-profile that it just blended into the pillow. Overall, I have to give 5 stars when comparing these to the general quality of what's out there. You can tell a lot of attention went into making these and the price is reasonable too. I hope they hold-up because most of my cheaper headphones lose sound in one speaker after a while. If they last a year or even six-months of heavy use, I will be very happy and will have considered this money well spent for enabling my relaxation time.

Wonderful and terrible at the same time.
When I bought these, they were the only thing available like it. Now there are a few other options which I might try since these only lasted me 5 1//2 months. Unfortunately, I didn't keep the packaging or anything about the warrantee - big mistake, if you buy these be sure to keep all that because you will probably need it. What I liked about SleepPhones: 1. I can only sleep comfortably on my side, and these were completely comfortable in that position. 2. Unlike some reviewers I didn't have problems with the volume or my partner overhearing what I was listening to. 3. Although I don't think it's designed for this, you can pull the band over your eyes to double as a comfortable sleep mask, which I like since ambient light will wake me up. 4. Although they do not block out loud noises from the environment (they can't, since they don't fit snug against your ear and probably couldn't while still being comfortable), they worked well enough that outside noises and snoring stopped bothering me. What I didn't like: 1. The cord is covered in very soft rubber that quickly separates from the wire just by being twisted in your sleep. Once that starts to happen, it's all downhill from there. Since I didn't keep the packaging and couldn't imagine sleeping without these things, I did several makeshift repairs on the cord using electrical tape, but once the cord started to go I would literally wake up every morning to find a new section of rubber coming apart. Yes, SleepPhones offers replacement headphones, but they are only $30 rather than $40, so it's not much better than having to buy a new set every few months and I think that for that amount of money, they should use the same kind of coating that most headphones use. I have NEVER had another set of headphones with this problem, and most headphones I've owned have been much cheaper than SleepPhones. 2. After 5 1/2 months, the left speaker has quit working. Since I mostly sleep on my right side, this makes them basically useless for blocking out sounds to me. The worst thing is, now that I've used them I'm addicted and can't imagine sleeping without some kind of headphones. I'll probably try the competition, but if it turns out to be less comfortable or functional I'll probably come crawling back.

Largely dissappointed!
I have used on and off for a few months now so I could get a good idea of what I liked, and disliked about this headband. I bought originally because I am a light sleeper and my husband is a LOUD snorer! I usually get woken up at least 1x/night by him and then can't get back to sleep. I can even hear him in the room next door through closed doors and plaster walls! So, I have been desperate for something for a while now. I was hoping this would be the relief I needed but... was highly dissappointed. I have rarely if ever found something that I have rated so low! Pros: * The fabric was soft and comfortable and the seams appear to be sturdy. * You can hear whatever you are playing thru the headband * You can wear in bed with minimal discomfort * Plugs into my Nano just fine * Does NOT stick into your ear! Cons: * The fabric is warm, and makes my ears, forehead, and the back of my neck sweat. Our thermostat is set to 60 at night so I don't really have a super warm environment on the East Coast in the winter. I have thick long hair so I've found it best to wear under my hair on the back of my neck like I would with a hair band instead of over my hair. If I wear over my hair it slips a lot, does not stay on and gets tangled in my hair. * The headband seems to be too loose for my size head which I thought was an average sized adult, so it slides around and ends sliding down over my eyes and getting even looser during the night. There appears to be no stretch to the fabric that would enable it to stay put. * It seems that every time I put it on I have to take it off and re-adjust where the little speakers are inside the headband so they fit over my ears. I just take it off and put it on the nightstand after using, but every time I put it on the need to adjust seems a bit of a pain. Perhaps it moves while I am wearing during the night and rolling around, but you would think that it would be able to stay where you set it and not have to adjust after each use. * First let me say that I have had my hearing tested and have been told I have normal hearing. I need to BLAST my nano at full volume to try to drown out my husbands snoring and I can still hear him! What ends up happening is no matter what I choose to listen to - no matter how relaxing, blasting at full volume is not conductive to sleep. It seems to me that the more relaxing selection I choose seems to be softer in sound and therefore not work as well. I have even tried blasting rock music but I still hear the snoring through it. Since that is my primary purpose to buying this headband and listening to something in bed, it's a big failure. While this may be comfortable and help occupy my time while not sleeping, it sure does not help drown out the snoring noises while providing me with something relaxing to listen to. I would NOT recommend this to anyone looking to drown out any noise.

Very comfortable and fits head size
After trying this along with other brands, it's by far my fav. for sleeping headphone. What I like: 1. Very comfortable for side sleepers, thin speaker doesn't hurt my ears at all. The other ones that claim to have thin speakers really didn't match up 2. Head band fabric material is very soft and comfortable, color doesn't come off like the other ones. 3. Fits my head size and doesn't fall off 4. Sometimes I wear during the day replacing my higher quality acoustic normal noise canceling headset, sometimes the need for comfort just supersedes that of sound quality. I often forgot I had them on. The regular headsets are usually too tight to wear for a long time. I think I will even bring these for traveling 5. Compared to ear buds, headphones put the source of sound farther away from your inner ears. This extra space can protect your eardrums from the strain of listening to direct noise. Not too mention ear buds hurts if you are side sleeper. Tips and tricks: 1. Some people who reviewed mention the problem of the speaker doesn't fall exactly on the spot of ear, you can just open from back and adjust the speaker position. 2. The side with the tag should be facing inside and at the back, however if you feel uncomfortable (for non side sleepers) just solve by reversing and have the tag on your forehead. Simply adjust the speaker piece again so it falls on your ear. 3. My head is around 21.5", this fits exactly. It probably won't fit a bigger size. 4. To avoid sleep being interrupted by artists talking at the beginning of the track, try to listen to tracks that are 8 hours long. 5. There are lots tracks that are multifunctional you can find on Youtube. For example, hypnosis tracks for reprogramming your mind for different purpose (wealth, success, positive, health...etc.. I listen to Paul McKenna but there are lots others) which also put you into deep sleep. I put a short track like 30min to 1 hour length hypnosis/binaural sound/guided meditation/affirmation with music track, then a 8 hour track. I found water/ocean sound with either piano or flute works best for me for all night deep sleep. 6. Try to listen with ipod device rather than your phone to eliminate electromagnetic damage on your brain. If you must listen with phone, put the airplane mode on. What can be improved: 1. The speaker could be more affixed to the area, the headband does move around in the morning when I wake up. It's not a big deal 2. Speaker volume can be a big louder. Sometimes the next track might be louder than the previous, you don't get startled all of a sudden that way. The way to get around that is to get some 3-8 hours deep sleep music. There are lots on Youtube. 3. The volume seems lower than other brands, just need to turn up the ipod volume a big louder than all is well. Overall it's a very quality product and I definitely will recommend to everyone. Edit: I solved the speaker moving around issues mentioned by many, by sewing two stitches of thread on each corner. Yes it's a bit of a hassle when you have to cut thread then take them out to wash, but it's only two stitches so no big deal. Takes me 30 seconds only. The other solution is to get velcro piece so they stay in place.

A great idea, but the new design is not comfortable
I was very happy to find the "cool" breeze fabric version of these, since I have owned the fleece headband for many years and it is too hot for me now that I suffer night hot flashes. The size according to the chart for me is Medium, so that is what I ordered (and I am a small woman), but the breeze band is WAY TOO TIGHT and gives me a headache. It is not worth the effort to return it, and as I am a good seamstress, I expanded the band myself by adding an extension and an adjustable closure in the front with part of an old sock and velcro. Also the terrible stiff plastic velcro in the back is very uncomfortable if I happen to lie on my back, so I removed that completely. That closure is not really needed anyway as the inner cables do not crawl out by themselves. The entire band seems too narrow and it is difficult to adjust the speakers where they need to be. Lots of frustration. The old version from many years ago had cloth velcro in the back, was not too tight, allows easy adjustment of the speaker position and fits great. I will simply make a lightweight version for my husband with a pair of long socks which I will sew together. And I may end up doing the same for myself if I find that my band with the homemade extension is still too narrow to allow me to easily adjust the speaker positions. It is a great idea to have lightweight fabric, but the sizing is way wrong. Try wearing them on a sleepless night and you will have a headache and plenty of frustration to add to your insomnia.

I just realized I'm wearing them...
Some years back I found that I never seemed to have time to "read" any more, which was always one of my favorite pastimes... So I joined "audible" as a Premium Member YEARS ago and now I'm constantly listening to my favorite books via my iPhone and a headset, or over the speakers in my vehicle. I especially like going to sleep while listening to a book, as does my fiancee, and she asked for "The most comfortable set of Sleep-Head-Phones I could find" for one of her Christmas Presents this past year. I searched through a LOT of "Sleep-Phones" and kept coming back to these, so I bought them for her. I had a cheap set of Sleep-Phones myself, but I always woke up in the night with my ears hurting a little bit if I fell asleep on my side... My Fiancee didn't seem to have that problem with her new Sleep-Phones. I wore her Sleep-Phones ONE night, and got up about 3AM to order a set for myself! I was just now writing a product review for another product when I saw I hadn't reviewed these Sleep-Phones yet, and realized I have them on my head right now listening to a fantastic Sci-Fi trilogy! These cost a little more than the cheap Sleep-Phones, but they are SO worth it! They're VERY soft, the speakers don't slip around inside the head-band so they're always ready to fit perfectly against your ears, and even laying on my side they don't put pressure on my ears like I'm laying on a bump or something... they're also not anywhere near as hot to wear as my cheap set was, and they have a much nicer cord, plug, and sound quality! I guess the fact that I was wearing them when I saw I still needed to review them is praise enough... Since it's Afternoon I probably should be wearing a BlueTooth headset instead of Sleep-Phones, but I'm at home and these are much more comfortable! UPDATE: 11 February 2013: There must be different types of these Sleep-Phones, because I've read reviews where people say theirs have broken in no time at all... My Wife and I are STILL using ours EVERY Night to listen to books as we fall asleep, well over a year after we bought them. The head bands have both been washed multiple times, and still fit snug and look great. The speakers are still producing GREAT sound with none of the static a few other people have reported. Since it's Winter here in the south, I wear them outside while working to listen to books AND to keep my ears warm (They do a GREAT job as "Ear Warmers" also!). I've dropped my iPhone multiple times, yanking the Sleep-Phone's plug out of the iPhone as it fell, and I've twisted the cord into tight knots some nights tossing and turning, but these AcousticSheep Sleep-Phones are still doing a FANTASTIC job for us! As I said, there must be some fluctuation in Quality Control or something, because we've got nothing but praise for ours!

Great product with even better customer service
I received these headphones about a year ago. The quality is nice and the sound is decent, not the best but far from the worst. It is a tradeoff for the thinness of the speaker. They are quite comfortable to wear which is the main thing I was looking for as a side sleeper but they can get painful if you have a harder pillow as it really pushes the speaker against your ear. I was initially going to give it 4 stars but I had an absolutely amazing customer service that boosted it to 5. About 6 months ago I noticed some squealing and popping on certain things I was listening to. It was so specific and sporadic that I initially thought it was what I was listening to instead of the speakers. It slowly started to get worse and I would play the same thing with a higher quality headset and noticed that it was fine. So I checked my purchase date and I was within a few weeks of the 1 year warranty expiring. I sent an email to the manufacturer asking if my issue was covered by warranty (since it was not outright broken) and they told me to send it in. Their warranty submission form says that turn around is 4-6 weeks for Canada but they had a parcel sent back to me within a few days of receiving the old speakers. I paid to ship to them and they paid return shipping to me. When I received it they had included a nice card with a HANDWRITTEN thank you note that was personalized to me apologizing for the problems I had and that the replacement speakers qualify for a new 1 year warranty. The most that you normally see anymore is a quick "Thanks for your order" written on the packing slip so any company that goes the extra mile like this deserves the recognition. Thank you to Brooke in CS and Jenna for the note as well as the entire AcousticSheep team. Because of this I would thoroughly recommend products from this company.
