WE HAVE A WINNER!
* BUG SNUB Ant Proof Tray - Waterless, Moat Free Cat and Dog Food Tray for Crawling Pest Free Pet Food Feeding Station * My apartment has been invaded by really small, black ants over the last week. I've sprayed for them. Maintenance has sprayed for them. If there's a morsel of food on the floor, there is a cluster (100s) of them on it in a few hours. I found this BUG SNUB tray on Amazon with same day delivery and installed (simple) it yesterday evening. I fed the furball who never eats ALL her food and waited... no ants. Yesterday morning there were hundreds swarming all over it. This morning... ZERO ants! I'm truly amazed how well this device works. Its construction is VERY solid with high-quality components. It doesn't slide around and assembly instructions make it easy to put together. The repellent comes in 4 packages, one for each leg, are stated to last a year and are available on Amazon. No... it's not cheap, but for what you get it's worth twice the price and I'd say it's a great value for the money as I can leave food in the bowl 24/7. Highly recommend. 60-DAY UPDATE, 9/03/25: Everything is still as stated above. The only ants I've seen are the 4-5 that got stuck in the repellent before the rest of the colony moved their food search elsewhere. This device is simply A-W-E-S-O-M-E .

Saved my pet food!
I love these things. We have a terrible ant problem and Iโm able to save my pet food by using these trays! I also have one under my garbage can. The size is perfect, theyโre easy to setup, and easy to maintain by pulling away potential โant bridgesโ like pet hair. Update - still buying more trays! I only had one break and I think the garbage can was just too heavy and someone mashed the foot button a bit too hard. It lasted like 2 years though! I find the goop rarely needs to be messed with - just check for pet hair or bridges periodically.

Great for keeping ants out of pet food.
I purchased this tray at least three years ago. Still working great, inside or outside. I use petroleum jelly on the surface just above where the "legs/feet" attach to the tray (underside of the tray). It doesn't take much. The jelly keeps ants from continuing their journey to the tray top and food. I did lose one of the little feet when cleaning it outside. I don't know if it was loose, or if I dislodge it when cleaning. I had to come up with something to replace the foot. **This was a great purchase and put a stop to ants getting into my cats' food bowl.

Seems to have halted the ant invasion
Springtime in our area (and probably for many people) is when those ant suckers literally seem to come out of the woodwork no matter how much you try to clean things up. We have cats that are quite messy eaters such that their bowls were attracting ants. We tried moving bowls around, keeping the area clean, but the ants just kept coming; I was having to put the cats' bowls up/down rather than leaving them for free feeding, which the kitties did NOT like and was becoming a hassle. I think I searched "cat bowl/dish for ants" and happened upon this product. I saw some reviews that the gel (applied to the tray's feet) is very sticky, my husband helped me assemble it and used a paintbrush to apply it. He mentioned some still got on his hand and did feel extremely greasy, so using a paintbrush or gloves when applying the gel seems advisable. The tray seemed larger in photos to me than how it looked in person, but the tray is still large enough for me to put two water dishes in the back and two medium-ish food dishes in the front. My cats were not perturbed by the tray at all and are feeding/drinking normally. To test it more accurately, I kept the tray in the same spot where I had the dishes before in our back room. I make sure to check the floor for stray food bits---they still manage to fling food around---as that will still attract ants. However, since the start of using this tray, I have not seen any more ants climbing around their dishes/in their food. The product is perhaps a little pricey for what it is---it's all plastic construction---however it is worth the money to me as I am not battling ants daily like before. My cats normally prefer their food/water dishes in our bedroom; now that I have tested the tray in our back room for about a week or so, I will move the tray back to the bedroom and will try to write an update. UPDATE: The tray is back in the bedroom where the cats prefer it the most: they like to graze at night. The lack of the food there was making my cats hungry (too lazy to walk to the back room) and waking me up really early. The area still seems ant-free, and I am now able to sleep better lol.
