- 2 CHANNELS OF LINE-LEVEL RCA AUDIO OVER ONE MULTIMODE STRAND, TO 2 KM - A matched transmitter and receiver carry stereo left/right, or two independent mono feeds, over a single multimode fiber to 2 km (6562 ft / 1.24 mi). Audio is A/D sampled at 24 bit for transport and reconstructed at the receiver, so level, response and channel separation do not degrade with distance.
- ANALOG RCA INPUT - NOT TOSLINK, SPDIF OR PCM - Input and output are analog line-level RCA, 600 ohm unbalanced, 3.0 Vp-p maximum. The fiber side is glass multimode terminated in SC, not a plastic optical audio lead. The unit will not accept a TOSLINK digital input and performs no D/A decoding of PCM, Dolby or DTS.
- MULTIMODE ONLY - 50/125 OR 62.5/125, OM1 TO OM3 - The optics are multimode and will not establish a link over single-mode 9/125 fiber. For single-mode plant, or any run beyond 2 km, use the single-mode version. Verify the fiber type of the installed plant before ordering.
- SC UPC/PC AT 1310 NM, -14 TO -8 dBm TX, -30 dBm RX SENSITIVITY - Standard SC patch leads at both ends. The 22 dB minimum link budget leaves margin for splices, patch panels and connector loss across the full 2 km. Audio interface 600 ohm unbalanced, 10 Hz to 29 kHz. Two LEDs per unit indicate fiber link and power.
- GALVANIC ISOLATION BETWEEN THE TWO ENDS - The link is glass, so there is no conductive path and no shared ground reference between transmitter and receiver. This removes ground-loop hum and mains-frequency noise on runs between separate buildings, distribution panels or power phases, and leaves the audio path immune to EMI and to lightning-induced surge on the cable.
- UNIDIRECTIONAL - TRANSMITTER TO RECEIVER - Audio travels TX to RX only; there is no return path on the same link. Applications requiring bidirectional audio need a bidirectional set. Confirm signal direction before installation.
- IN THE BOX - Transmitter, receiver, two DC 5V/1A power adapters (one per unit) and the manual. Input AC 90-240V, under 5 W total, -20 to 75 C operating, 104 x 104 x 28 mm (4.09 x 4.09 x 1.1 in) per unit, desktop or wall mount.
