Great for flavoring you're own bourbon.
I've use it for both bourbon and cheating by flavoring corn vodka. Works great.

Great way to enhance your wines!
These chips are great way to imbibe some "oaked" taste to your glass-brewed vintages. The chips work really well and quite quickly! Noticeable difference within in a week, and a softer, bolder, yet more refined result in 3 weeks.I prefer the FRENCH variety over the American oak chips because of thesoft vanilla and caramel notes left behind. To me, the flavors left behind by American oak chips (and American oak barrels for that matter) really smack you in the face, whereas the French oaking tastes and smells more balanced, refined, soft and palatable. This product at this price seems like a really good value to me, as 1/8 oz per gallon really does the trick. I will certainly buy these again!

Added an interesting taste
I bought these to add to a bourbon oaked aged style coffee porter. While I wasn't expecting an oak taste like a barrel, it added the oak flavor I was going for in my beer. Just what I was looking for.

Stan the Man Reviews: French Toasted Oak Ships
This is a rather small package but, since the pieces are rather small, they compact well and you get a fair amount I make fake bourbon and cognac out of vodka, white rum, and neutral grain spirits so I can't speak to how well these work with wine. I never did even like wines with an oak or woody taste.I have bought white oaks chips, both the medium and heavy toast, in the past as well as Jack Danniel's Old No. 7 whiskey barrel chips which are sold primarily for barbecuing and smokers. I prefer the heavy toast and Jack Danniels mixed together for a bourbon taste. These are my attempt to make something like brandy or cognac and I have still to decide on whether they work well or not.A guy I knew once who made moonshine rum with the little Megahome distiller Amazon sells said he prefers white oak.On reading up on cognace, I found out that French bradies are often also made with white oak.Still, I give them five stars since they almost immediately colored the vodka I put them into. Oak chips and the Jack Daniels take a while to start and a few hours to a day or so to develop.I would recommend these it they suit your particular purpose in wine making since I do believe they would work just fine for you. That is why I gave them vive stars since there is probably not much wrong with them for the purposes intended.

Wish I had known about these years ago!
Turns grain vodka into fine sipping whisky! It really works. I used 1/4 cup of med toast chips to a pint of $12.00 a fifth 100 proof corn vodka. After a couple of weeks it was like a $40.00 bourbon. Very smooth, slight oakiness and a caramel/vanilla quality. I ordered 2 more bags.

A whole lot of sawdust
Delivery was fine, but I will need to sift out the actual chips from the large amount of sawdust before I can even add any of it to the wine. Kind of disappointing. Since this is my first time using oak, I didn’t want to spend too much, but now I seriously wish I had bought the more expensive cubes, or even the stick type. Hopefully soaking it first will remove the powdery stuff from the usable parts.

WOW! 1/2 cup in 32oz. jar of 100proof Red raspberry, sugar shine looks like top shelf whisky!
Worked much faster than anticipated. Keep a 12 hour watch on it. Added a definite woody sweet base flavor.
