walk to lose Review: A re-release of an old favourite - As queried by a few reviewers, this DVD is simply a copy of one of Leslie's very early VHS videos from the late 1980s (1988, to be exact) - Walk Aerobics 40 Plus Workout. So, yes this is dated, a little unpolished, and not normal digital quality (but still pretty good). But, on the plus side, it also features the early bubbly, enthusiastic and very genuine Leslie - the personality that led to the huge popularity of her subsequent Walk Aerobics and later Walk At Home, In Home Walking etc etc programmes. I've been using this tape (transferred from a worn VHS copy to DVR) for decades (literally), and so I was delighted to find this and purchase what is now a proper DVD version of the same session with (relatively) crisp graphic and sound quality. I still find it a great 25+ minute workout, and really appreciate the time when Leslie was interacting with participants and instructors from 'The Club' fitness center in New Castle, Pennsylvania, who were genuinely her friends and colleagues. So 5 stars from me - who will continue to use this - and if you're wanting a better copy of the old tape with Jack, Dave, Julie and others from 'The Club' you'll want to grab this too. But don't buy this if you are wanting a slick new video actually made in 2004! Now if only I could find an equivalent issue of the first Walk Aerobics video (with some of the same participants!), 'Live At The Club' (1986), when Leslie's surname was Tommelleo ... If you know of one, please let me know. :-) [I would just add, for potential buyers, that this DVD has a very minor glitch in the video. I noticed it in the copy I bought, so I bought a second one, which has the same glitch at precisely the same point (20m00s in). So it is clearly a production fault in the DVDs. It is very minor and does not disrupt the session or the DVD's use at all. But I just thought I would mention it ...]. Review: Effective Two Mile Workout - Featuring Leslie Sansone and a group of walkers, while 40 Plus Workout is labeled as being from 2004, judging by the clothes and hair it is clearly older than that. In fact, from the way Leslie conducts the work out - she says to march in place instead of walk in place and has everyone check their heart rate - I'd say this is one of her earliest taped workouts. Hair and clothes aside, 40 Plus Workout is an excellent two mile walk. While this is early Leslie Sansone, all of her basic moves are included - besides walking in place there are knee lifts, kicks, and side steps. The emphasis in this DVD is walking in place, walking back-and-forth, sidesteps and kicks - there are no knee lifts until the second mile of the DVD and even then there are very few knee lifts. Still, even without a lot of knee lifts this is a good workout. Leslie is her usual happy, somewhat giddy, and at times a bit goofy, self in this DVD. She has a diverse cast of walkers of all ages ,shapes, and sizes and seems to enjoy walking with them. This is one of the few DVDs where I actually felt like I was in a class with Leslie walking alongside her - a feeling I really enjoyed. 40 Plus Workout may be one of Leslie Sansone's older workout but it is still an effective two mile workout.

40 Plus Workout Walk 2 Miles
Like this workout very much. I replaced an old tape of Walking for people over 40 that I have used a very long time. I do the walk Aerobics with a group in Fl in the winter. This is just perfect. I like to feel that I have put in an effort and this gives me that feeling. I am 76 and have been told I don't look or act that age and I want to stay that way. I try to use all the Leslie Sansone DVDs at least 5 days a week, sometimes 6 days. They keep me feeling good.

Fuels motivation
I checked this video out at the library along with the regular two-mile walk. I absolutely love it. Yes, it's from the early 90s and there's a little too much hairspray and thick black eyeliner, but Leslie's enthusiasm and encouragement make you tend to forget about it. Now I look forward to getting up in the morning and exercising before I even start my work day. Before, it was the last thing I'd think about doing, and then it wouldn't get done at all and I'd be disappointed that I let another day go by without taking better care of myself. I found the regular two-mile walk too difficult; I thought I was going to keel over dead by the 3/4 mile mark because there were so many lunges, but the over-40 tape is just right for those of us who've kept saying "I'll start working out tomorrow." If it's a little too easy, just add some of the arm movements or knee lifts and kicks when she's instructing just marching in place (like a couple of the people in the tape do), or add some wrist or ankle weights. As Leslie says so often (to paraphrase), it's not about fancy moves, it's about keeping moving, keeping your heart rate up, changing your body for the good. I've just ordered this tape and I'll definitely buy a few more just for variety.

Walk Aerobics is for fun and fitness
Purchasing Leslie Sansone's Walk Aerobics 40-Plus Workout has been one of the best decisions I have made. It's refreshing and encouraging to see that those participating on the video are of different shapes and sizes, and different levels of fitness, instead of 'body beautiful'. The exercises are easy to perform and at 30-35 minutes in length the workout is not too long. Being overweight, over 50 and out of condition, I am happy to find a workout that I can actually perform comfortably and feel enervated afterwards, and now motivated to exercise daily. I have now purchased several other videos in the series. I recommend this video to anyone who is not interested or does not have the time to go to the gym, doesn't want to pound the pavements and wants an easy-to-perform exercise routine that will greatly improve one's overall fitness level, have fun and burn calories at the same time.

Must be her first foray in taping a walking session ...
Must be her first foray in taping a walking session. She talks about right steps but when watching it she is going to your left. Later taping she realized that she needed to do the opposite of the group doing the class and said right steps even though she was on her left so that it was easier to follow
