Mia Hall (Chloe Grace Moretz) thought the hardest decision she would ever face would be whether to pursue her musical dreams at Juilliard or follow a different path to be with the love of her life, Adam (Jamie Blackley). But what should have been a carefree family drive changes everything in an instant, and now her own life hangs in the balance. Caught between life and death for one revealing day, Mia has only one decision left, which will not only decide her future but her ultimate fate. "If I Stay" is based on the best-selling novel of the same name. Review: Unexpected turn of events- Tear jerker. - Great movie, great writing. I was expecting this movie to take the turn that it took . Review: Makes me think of my family and whats important - If I stay is a beautiful, moving film about a teenage girl and the life or death decision she must make. Mia is a teenage girl that has a wonderful, quirky family, a boyfriend who loves her to pieces, and a bright, ambitious future. But, all of that changes when she and her family are in a fatal car accident. While Mia's body is in a coma, her mind journeys back to all of her memories, triumphs, heart breaks and future. She has to make the decision on whether or not to fight and stay alive, or let go and leave this world. Will Mia stay? I love this movie. It made me laugh, cry and it helped me to see all of the good in my own life that I should cherish, because you never know when it could all change. The cinematography is beautiful. Most of the film is filled with memories that Mia has and the way they are portrayed is very neat. The music is also beautiful. Mia is a cellist and a lot of the film focuses on her dreams of becoming a successful musician, so the film is filled with beautiful classical music. My Favorite character is Mia played by Chloe Moretz. This film shows so many aspects of Mia's life, so it's easy to find something to relate to. She has a great passion for playing the cello and dedicates most of her life to it. She has difficulties relating to her parents and even her boyfriend since their musicals tastes are far more edgy than hers. She has to face her insane loss and she has to choose between many different things in life. There's something about her life that I think anyone can relate to, so she's a wonderful character. Chloe does a wonderful job portraying everything she's going through and she moved me to tears many times. This film makes me think about my own family and everything I would do for them. It makes me think of my life and all the joys and sorrows I've faced. There was not a dry eye in the audience because this film provokes unique memories for every individual. I felt especially connected to Mia's family because I too have a younger brother and am very close with my parents, so I was very touched by Mia's situation. I give this film 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 13 to 18 because of the intense emotions and mature content

Memorable
Following the trend of teen books being adapted to movies, comes "If I Stay". I didn't read the book, but the trailer seemed compelling enough to drag me to the theater. The trailer shows the film as a love story like a huge summer hit like "The Fault in our Stars", but there's a twist. The movie cuts deeper than just a love story, and we get to see how not only a young girl's life instantly changes by a car accident, but also how it affects the people that surrounds her, like her other relatives, her friends, and her boyfriend. There's a twist: she falls into a coma, but she still can see her relatives, friends suffering for her at the hospital where she's in. This surely guarantees a lot of tears, so if you haven't watched it, get some tissues. This one will make you cry. The movie is told in such a refreshing way, filled of flashbacks where we see how was her life before the accident, like finding her first love, her audition to Julliard, among other events of a typical life. I wasn't expect it to like it so much, and I dare to say that it's even better than TFIOS (you know it will always be compared to that one), Chloë Grace Moretz is such a talented young actress, you believe her performance from beginning to end, and the supporting cast is great as well. There's great music from great musicians, from indie, to classical music(get the soundtrack!), and good songs from the fictional band, Willamette Stone. I read the book after the movie, and I can say it's a faithful adaptation and readers from the book and non-readers will enjoy it. After the film ends, you get to appreciate more life, and this movie will change a lot of lives. Can't wait to get it on Blu-Ray! Hope it's filled with bonus features. It's worth the pre-order, for sure.

Nice adaptation of a good book
I bought this movie for my girlfriend because she is a book nerd and has to read the book before she sees the movie so it makes sense. She doesn't always say the book was better. Sometimes she likes the movie better. In this case, she thought they complemented each other. The movie follows the book closely. It has to condense some for time allowed, that why so many movies are cut up in two parts these days. The YA genre is full of paranormal romance. This story was a refreshing spin off the usual formula of teen angst with supernatural/futuristic elements. I have to say, that I watched it too and while I wasn't as engrossed in it as my girlfriend was, it was easy to follow, well-written, and had a strong leading player. I recommend this movie whether you have read the book or not. Anyone interested in this film already knows the premise by now if they have read this far, so I won't rehash it. All I will say is that this film could have easily been contrived and cheesy and hokey and clichéd but rather, the end is result is truly one of the finest, most real representations of youth and love I have seen in a long time. And the fact that it seemed so genuine is exactly why I have not cried in a film so much since...."The Perks of Being a Wallflower." Chloe Grace Moretz has already proved she is a force to be reckoned with, but by an accomplishment like playing the key character in a film that was made to be a tearjerker without coming across as completely laughable shows what a strong actress this young woman truly is. Excellent, relatable dialogue, wonderful direction and perfectly edited, Make sure you have some Kleenex.

but I fell in love with her in "if I stay"
Chloe Grace Moretz – I fell in lust with her in Kick Ass and Kick Ass 2, but I fell in love with her in "if I stay"! Completely breaking the mold I thought she was in, this movie is well scripted well acted and left me watching it a 2nd time. It's an engaging movie, a thought-provoking movie, and it is at the same time a both heartbreaking, and feel-good viewing experience. My only complaint is that when Ms. Moretz is in the hospital, outside her body, she's barefoot the whole time... but why screenplay a movie that way if they don't show her below the ankles! But overall this one get a high recommendation.

A story about young love and making tough choices.
I loved this movie and Chloe Grace Moretz gave an absolutely perfect performance, as she always does. This is the first time I have ever seen Jamie Blackly act, but he did a superb job as well. I don't care what the critics say, this is an awesome film. Adam, but especially Mia face some tough choices after the unexpected accident and the decisions will change the course of their lives. This is a pretty good stand alone movie, but if you want to know the rest of the story than you will have to read Where She Went, which is the sequel to the first book and is set three years after and from Adam's perspective.
