Hands on Rigid Heddle Weaving

Das Buch beschreibt sehr schön,was für verschiedenen Bindungsvarianten mit einem Webrahmen mit Gatterkamm gewebt werden kann. Zu jeder Bindungsart ist ein gewebtes Beispiel dargestellt. Das Einrichten des Webrahmens wird beschrieben, für den Anfänger kann es aber nicht ganz schlüssig wirken. Es wird ein wenig auf die Farbzusammenstellungen eines Gewebes und auf die Garnkunde eingegangen. Ein gutes Buch, aus welchem man sich immer wieder Anregungen holen kann.

This is the most recommended book for rigid heddle weaving and with good reason. The directions are clear and the depth and variety of information is outstanding. I come back to this book over and over as I up my skills and want to progress. It walks you right seat through a table runner or pillow project, clearly explaining every step as you go and not just a simple, bland project but a patterned piece that is beautiful yet beginner friendly. It even covers tricks for fixing errors. It covers a host of interesting, easy patterns such as log cabin, open weave, and float patterns with a pick up stick. The projects are varied from tote bags and purses to vests and tops. There is an afghan with panels you sew together. There is even a pattern to weave a carry bag for your foldable loom. If I could only have one weaving book, I’d choose this one.

日本語の入門書にはあまり書かれない、基本的な説明が詳細に書かれています。作品を作りながら、楽しく手織りの技術を学んでいけると思います。織り方の技術も豊富で、色、柄の考え方の基本、応用作品のヒントなど、解説もあります。全体に少しも堅苦しくなく、ゆっくり、楽しみましょう、という雰囲気が基本にあるので、読んでいて楽しいです。 英語中級程度で読めると思います。

I recently bought an Ashford Rigid Heddle Loom and quite honestly I couldn't have got on with it so easily without this very helpful book, full of illustrations and clear descriptions of procedures. It also explores just how much I can do on a simple loom like this, it has kept me weaving nonstop since I got the book!
