TV Box S 3rd Gen - 4K UHD, Google TV, 32GB Memory, Dolby Vision & Atmos, WiFi 6, HDMI 2.1, Fast Streaming, Compact and Powerful

I am a disabled vet and as is the case with everyone, money is super tight. I bought one of these from a big box store and it was a nightmare. The first unit wouldn't connect to the internet, the replacement came with Android 8.1 & when it updated to Android 9 several components would not work (ie Google Chromecast & Netflix) and had to deal with Xiaomi customer service (let do this on the buddy plan- NIGHTMARE) but was repaired after a period of time. I decided that I wanted another unit but this time ordered it from Amazon. It arrived with no problem, this is basically a plug & go unit. As it came on it started to update, my heart sank as I thought please not again. No problem at all. If you possess no tech knowledge, no sweat. There is no learning curve at all, very simple to set up... umm maybe 3- 5 minutes. The options are literally unlimited as far as watching movies, live t.v., kid shows, weather, news, like I said unlimited. It comes with Chromecast, Netflix, & Google assistant which is pretty awesome! You can pick up the remote & ask: "What is the weather in ****", or "Will it rain today"? It will then tell you verbally and visually on your t.v. Lately, I have had ample time (due to COVID-19) to run the unit through the paces, I can't say enough positive about this product. You can get it for a very, very reasonable price too. I hope that this is helpful & useful for everybody.

I almost did not buy any of the many Android TV boxes because of the reviews on them looked as if this technology still needed to become more stable. Then I came across thisv Xiaomi Mi Box S Android TV and was impressed on how many reviewers said the turned around and ordered more of these devices to connect to other TVs in their homes and to give them as gifts to friends and family. I have only had the MI for 2 days yet I believed it was not too early to review it because the installation and end results were very good. All of the 'issues' I found were not because of the MI but were caused by the APP or was something that copyrights or other legal issues prevented it to work. On researching each "disappointment" I found all competitors had the same issues. If you think the MI will turn your TV into a tablet you may be disappointed. It really is more of a streaming device, thus things such as the Kindle app you may be disappointed. I believe these types of apps may indeed be more suited to a device you hold in your hand, and it makes sense to me that no R & D was wasted on such applications. Everything I wanted to add to my pre-Smart Samsung LED TV is working now as a modern Smart TV. One more mention. From my research no Android TV Boxes have a Internet Browser APP. I found recommendations for the Puffin Browser. From that name I would have never downloaded it, but the things said about the APP was positive so I gave it a try. No problems downloading or installing it and it has worked with no problems. So that concluded my setup, and I am pleased with the end results.

Best thing about the Mi Box S is that it uses Android TV, which puts this product leaps and bounds over 90% of the other Android TV boxes out there. I didn't take much time experimenting with this box too much, as it was a gift for an elderly family member. But Plex worked with no issues. Playback was fine. If there was anything I wish I could change about this box, it would be to add an Ethernet port and USB 3. My only real complaint is that the remote I received with the box wasn't working with Voice Commands. You press the voice button and it would bring up the prompts from Android that it's listening... but the microphone on the remote wasn't working and no amount of unpairing/repairing the remote fixed the issue. And the vendor wouldn't get back to me about it. But it was OK. the person I was gifting this to didn't care about that. Despite being a bit underpowered compared to other Android TV Boxes, this one stands out for the competent implementation of Android. I definitely recommend, all things considered.

If you don't have a smart TV this box works excellent you can download and install all kinds of apps from the Google Play store. You can also go out on the web with the computer and copy APK file which is an Android file to a thumb drive and then install it from the USB port on the device which makes it so that you can put pretty much any app you can find on it and it works good.

Edit: 5/3/20 there was an update and my box is working perfect. Since the last issue I purchased a roku. Although I like the Roku, I prefer this box and am glad it's working again. I bought this product back in july and worked perfect. A few weeks ago there was an update on this box which made the box stop working. After going online to find a solution I realized everyone is having this issue after the update and they are aware of it. As of now no updates or fix on this issue. I'm very sad because I really liked this box and was very user friendly. I will definitely change my rating as soon as this isssue is fixed.

I used to have this product in every room of the house, until 2 of them just stopped working on me. The quality and performance of this product is top notch. I unfortunately had to budget and started using another box, but I highly recommend this. Consistent updates, rarely ever crashes/lags, and even had ethernet connection option. Very underrated product, but I just wish the price could go to the way it was a few years ago. There is a USB option in the back that allows connection to external hard drives, and remotes. Hopefully I will be able to use this product again soon.

Es un excelente producto lo recomiendo la calidad del video es excelente la aplicaciones abren muy rápido y eso que mi velocidad no es muy rápida el envío fue excelente solo dos dias tardo en llegar

El equipo como tal es muy bueno, fácil de usar y configurará el único detalle es el adaptador de corriente es muy pero muy malo no se queda fijo en el contacto y se mueve mucho por eso lo doy 4 estrellas.
