A Lot of Info
At over 1000 pages, this covers a lot of topics and for the most part seems to cover them well. This is the third edition from 2014 (not sure if there's a newer edition or not) so given the nature of technology some parts may be slightly out of date but that's no knock on this book. I bought the book out of personal interest in learning the content, so most of the material was new to me apart from HTML & CSS basics and I think the author did a great job laying out the various technologies available in web development. I took the time to type out and save many of the code samples in the book, which I recommend doing. Typing out the code helps it stick in memory better than just reading it in the book or copying & pasting from the companion website. I've been playing around with some personal web pages using HTML/CSS/MySQL/PHP/AJAX/Javascript/JQuery, and find myself referring back to this book quite a bit in addition to the usual online searches. I think it's a good foundation to start with before picking up some of the newer books on the specific technologies that interest you.

Comprehensive Web Development Information.
The author, Andy Harris, presents the material in a very easy to understand manner starting with the basics and proceeding to increasingly complex tools and designs. Probably one of the best books for beginners as well as more experienced website developers. Even for those who build websites using higher-level software, such as WordPress, this book provides insight as to what's under the covers.

There's a lot here. This is a lot of book!
I was looking for a real book to use alongside my online study. This book covers a lot of ground. HTML5 and CSS is just the start. There's also client-side with JavaScript and PHP, data management with mySQL and client/server side with AJAX. A lot of useful stuff and a challenge to use. I bought the book in used condition, and it is perfectly usable. A good purchase.

Almost everything you need to know about HTML and CSS3
There were several errors in the CSS format examples, but they are minor and can easily be overcome by the astute reader. Some of the information needed further clarification if the reader is a true CSS dummy. The W3Schools online was a great help in furthering the possibilities of CSS and goes hand-in-hand with this book as does the online website by the author. These are two URLs to bookmark and refer to frequently. The print is both very small (maybe 9pt) and the examples are so faint that a magnifying glass is helpful to see what the coding is supposed to look like. The text editors that are recommended are a benefit since they will show errors in the coding and even include the line number of the error. This book is well worth the cost and one that will remain in your library as long as you are working with HTML5 and CSS3.

Lifesaver!
This book was on the suggested reading list for one of my MLIS classes. This should be required reading (not suggested reading!) for anyone with little/no knowledge of website building, code, etc. Very well organized, and provides lots of details and examples. I look forward to purchasing additional Dummies books related to this topic. I would definitely recommend this book.

Best All-In-One Book out there just got even better!
I purchased the First Edition of this book when it came out and was amazed at how much information was in the book. It's packed with basic to advanced topics, not just fluff some other massive books are filled with. I specifically purchased the book for the updated HTML5 and CSS3 material, but the JavaScript and PHP sections are very helpful too. Be sure to check out the "About the Author", and "Acknowledgements" in the back of the book on page 1071. It seems strange the publisher choose to place it in the back in the 3rd edition.

You need to create a practical approach, and practice.
It's for wed development, excellent book for 2022. I have previous knowledge in wed development went to college for it. This covers the basic of html5/CSS3 with how they interact with other code. It's for new to re-learners.
