Love, Poverty, and War: Journeys and Essays (Nation Books)

I'd recently picked up another copy after losing (ahem... loaning) mine some time back. I first read this back when it came out and liked it then, and I still enjoy pulling it down and reading an essay here and there. Mostly for perspective. He's probably right aboutMother Teresa and Religion and all that but, that's not really what interests me. I figure those more controversial subjects might have had as much to do with book sales as anything else. A man has to sell books - for that you gotta break through the noise somehow. But for me Hitchens had a perspective on history and world events that I found really broadening. Tragic he died so young. A loss for us all we haven't had his voice in the mix today. I also quite liked Letters to a Young Contrarian.

Classic Hitch. Covering everything from Iraq to Cuba. Persuasive, funny, and sharp, highly recommend this collection of essays and criticism. Miss him immensely.

Good book. Not one of Hitchen's better books in my opinion. Still worth reading if you are a Hitchen's fan though.

Christopher Hitchens was the most articulate and hard-hitting investigative reporter, essayist, and writer of our time. It is too bad that he died at age 62, for we could have used his insights and savvy for many years to come. This collection of essays, some of them now outdated by the passing years, are nevertheless educational and eye-opening about many of the world's nagging problems.

read it, though if you heard Hitchens talk whether in debate, forum or his thoughts, this portrays his way of thinking in depth not by going into his thought process but through his written thoughts on these subjects. I highly recommend.

Fantastic collection yet again from hitchens. May he live a long life. Love Poverty and war is a great collection on a great series of topics, im glad to have purchased this book and am working through it slowly.

HITCHENS may not always be original, but he is most of the time and with his vocabulary you really don't care whether he is or not.
