Comet CM-C-150 15 Sheet Cross Cut Paper Shredder - Shreds CD/DVD, Credit Cards, Staples - Quiet (7 Gallon)

Too hard to feed the paper into the slit. It stops for now reason in the middle of shredding papers. I have to hit reverse and then try to feed it through again. It is as if a piece of shredded paper gets stuck and it causes the machine to stop. I do like the large collection bin.

Tired of replacing sub-$60 paper shredders that underperformed and broke easily, I decided to spend more to get better performance and, I hope, longer life. The details of the Comet C-150 looked great. The promise of quiet, dependable performance, with up to 15 sheets shred-able...well, the unit looks good on paper. But what is the reality? PROS: * Seems well made * Resists jamming and reverses well if it does jam * Handles paper, CDs, DVDs, and credit cards with no problems * Relatively quiet * While not worthy of a place in an IKEA catalog, the styling is fine * Swiveling caster wheels * Large capacity bin * Seems a good value, as the unit compares favorably against shredders that cost $30-$50 more CONS: * The quiet operation depends on what is being shredded—send a filled, business-sized envelope through the shredder and it still sounds like a machine gun going off * Though run through this cross-cut shredder, the resulting shreds are larger than most other cross-cut shredders and subsequently do not compress as well, which fills the bin faster than it should * 15 sheets? Not with 20-pound paper, which is common—think 12 sheets instead * The slot design for the paper feed is narrower than most, which makes for higher-than-average aggravation when trying to run a pile of paper through the shredder, especially if that paper has been creased on the edges While the Comet C-150 has more cons than I would like, it still performs well, and the cost is hard to argue against. The mechanism, when operating, sounds robust, so I believe this unit will last longer than others I've purchased. After about three months of ownership, I'm pleased. I think you will be too.

So many reasons to like this product. Strong and reliable shredder. Can move it easily when vacuuming the room. Drawer empties well into main trash can. Credit cards and CDs don't get jammed in shredder like some cheaper models. Nice, sleek appearance, too.

This shredder is already broken. Made of thin, cheap plastic. OK, so I parked it next to the insulated water heater, same place the former shredder sat for years, no problem. This Comet is made of such thin plastic, it warped and broke. It shreds great. Too bad it was not made to last. Don park yours in sunlight, near a heater outlet, etc.

It's really a 12 sheet shredder although advertised as a 15. The slot is very narrow and will barely accept 15 pages. It will stall and falter if more than 12 sheets are fed into it.

This is not my first, home shredder. However the Comet C-150 is probably the shabbiest. Made in China of very flimsy plastic, I am not impressed. For the dollars spent it works. Expecting better quality from overseas was only in my dreams. Gone are the days of "Made in the USA". So, what we have here is exactly what Washington, D.C. has brought to our doorsteps. I have had this C-150 for a while, and each time that I must empty the incorporated waste bin, "I get bit". There are little spurs that will draw blood. For the price, you could probably do worse. For the expected quality, I can not get to overly excited with this shredder from Comet.

This is a great shredder. Very Quiet. Have had not problems with it at all. Was able to shred CD's without any issue. The basket holds a lot before needing to be emptied.

This shredder came quickly and packaged perfectly. It came right out of the box ready to use. It was somewhat larger then expected and so happy it was. It is so very quiet and efficient. Takes no time in shredding and gets the job done and ready for the next piece. It also can take almost anything you can dish out. Along with that it doesn't increase in sound because of the increase in size. Emptying this is a breeze and so clean! I won't ever own anything but this one again. I couldn't be happier. BTW the seller made this a very enjoyable experience by the way they handled the order. Nice job!
