The Great Big Water Cycle Adventure (Look and Wonder) : Barnham, Kay, Frost, Maddie: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Lovely science book!! - I love this book! I’m such a science nerd and love teaching science to my class, this book is perfect for a living things topic with the lifecycle concept! The illustrations are very child friendly and easy to follow but at the same time providing lots of facts and information on the water cycle! I would love to complete the set and have all the books in the series Review: Brilliant non-fiction for kids, engaging and informative - My friend's daughter liked this book a lot; so much so, she asked to take it to nursery for show and tell. I can see why as the drawings are engaging, and it’s well written and informative – a rarity in non-fiction books for her age group. She has another in the series and found ‘Amazing Animal Babies’ to be equally good. Am going to explore the others in the series, too. Recommended!

super
This book has a sturdy hard back cover which means it can put up with the normal bumping and knocking that will come with being around children , without falling apart too soon. The current price of this book is 12.99 and in my opinion that is quite a lot. I would be more comfortable paying around the 8-9 pound mark, and this is why i am removing 1 star. This book is from the Look and Wonder range written by the excellent Kay Barnham and Maddie Frost. They are full of informative information for children , that is being taught in a fun and interesting way. The illustrations and colour scheme of the book are beautiful. The font size is nice and big with good spacing which promotes independent reading as the words are not too intimidating for a child on the page. I love these books, I just wish they were a litter cheaper.

Excellent for younger readers or as classroom resource on the water cycle
We've seen a few water cycle picture books recently and this is one I would say I'd certainly friendly for the younger student, my 5 year old can read this comfortably and the information is bite size sentence or two to a page, it's not over complicated and is succinct meaning this could be used in a classroom setting as an introduction text in younger or older years as it's so simple. The illustrations by Maddison Frost lift this non-fiction book into something children can be inspired by as the two friends explore the water cycle from canoeing to hot balloons to peeping in puddles. They have a childlike charm along the lines of Tim Hopgood so if your child enjoyed Wow said the Owl etc then they will love the images here. Overall this is an excellent non fiction resource that is gentle but accurate and gives lots of facts but in an easy to consume way. I would highly recommmend this for KS1 and could also suit lower KS2.
