Larousse French Dictionary (French and English Edition)

This bilingual dictionary is much larger than one I bought decades ago. It has some great features, including sample sentences. These are particularly useful when the French or English expressions do not translate literally. Another valuable tool are over 100 verb conjugations on the center of the book. The word "concise" in the title is misleading. This is very comprehensive and best used as a reference source, not a travel companion.

At more than 2" thick, this is the real deal with 260,000+ words, expressions and translations. The print may be too small for some and the shiny strong paper cover with thick sheets, will not wear well if using constantly. If traveling, I would suggest a smaller version...unless you stick with a phone app.

This is freakin awesome, exactly what i hoped to have as my reference dictionary. I'm old school, and this is a newer version of those quality language dictionaries we had in the late 90s. Excellent condition, shipped quckly--seller gets 5☆☆☆☆☆ as well.

I found this dictionary very helpful! it is big and thick, and not accessible to be carrying it around, but I do have it on my shelf and I use it very frequently. It gives me the best translation and if sometimes there are multiple translations depending on context, It will provide all those different contexts and give examples. I liked it a lot.

I was visiting my father and missed reading French novels to keep my French up. So, I ordered this thick Larousse and found the type easy to read. I realized later I didn't need the English translation to French, and might order just a French to English dictionary next time which would be smaller and less cumbersome to hold and pack in a suitcase. So, consider what you're going to use this for. If it's just for translating French to English, you may wish to look for a book which does that. I was very pleased with this - but only used the front half of the book.

I bought this concise French dictionary for my granddaughter as she studies French in school. She keeps it at home for reference. I have one myself so we can converse and it keeps my French fluent as I seldom speak it outside of family. It's also a big help to me when I do crossword puzzles or run across a term I'm not familiar with in a book I'm reading. Totalement utile! (Very useful!)

I bought this English and French dictionary for myself. It's a great reference book to help you translate from English to French!

This is a very complete dictionary. It is biger than I anticipaded it would be so I would not qualify it as a pocked dictionary because it would be a bit burdensome to carry around everyday to take to class, but I use it a lot when doing homework. It is a great reference book to keep on your desk.

If you are techno freak I guess you should not be buying this one. We get meanings online easily. But as a student I prefer having a good hard copy of a dictionary and this serves the purpose well.

Worth the price, very fast delivery I will be looking to purchase the hard copy next time. This dictonary is not meant for travel but great for class work or at home usage.

Not much you can say about a dictionary. All I can say is that this one is excellent. Nice size, lots of words. One of those books where you don't have to start at the beginning.
