Very good

TLDR: if you own any prior edition of the Manhattan 5-lb. GRE book, you don't need this book. The only change has been to shorten the diagnostic tests to reflect the current GRE. I'm a full-time tutor who only teaches GRE prep, and I use the 5-lb. with most of my clients. I have an extensive review of the 4th edition of the 5-lb. book on Amazon which covers my thoughts about the book's pros and cons, so I'll just provide a few bullets here: - It's excellent for drilling quant concepts - The verbal questions, on the whole, aren't realistic and shouldn't be used since they don't reliably play by the same rules as do the real GRE's questions - Manhattan kinda had to release this 5th edition to make the diagnostic tests reflect the length of the current GRE, but since the content on the current GRE is exactly the same as the old GRE*, and the diagnostic tests in this version are of limited value anyway (they're on paper, non-adaptive, and not written by the real test writers), the older versions of this book are just as good. *The most major content change to the GRE is that the "Argument Essay" has been removed entirely. The bottom line is that if you're preparing for the GRE, this is a valuable tool, but you shouldn't feel the need to buy this edition instead of any older edition, since the content is almost exactly the same.

I just took the test on Aug 20, 2020, and this book helped me reach my score goals. The difficulty of the problems in this book is very close to actual GRE questions - a combination of low, medium, and high-difficulty questions (as well as en entire chapter on advanced math questions for those aiming for a perfect quant score). I went through other non-ETS books as well, but none do as good of a job as this book. I would recommend you solve even those math problems that seem easy because there are many tricky ones, and it will be helpful to learn tricks and avoid them on test day. Took the practice test provided by the book and was expected to get 161 Math and 147 Verbal. After doing all the chapters in the book, I took it and got 168 Math and 157 Verbal. Very pleased with the scores and even more so with my improvement. Highly recommend doing vocab flash cards before doing chapters 3 & 4 (Magoosh has a nice app), otherwise you might feel like you are going to fail the vocab section like me! After doing the app I looked back and it seemed much easier. Highly recommend this book! Kept track of my studying and it took about 40 hours to go through the entire book (excluding essay practice) once, with looking at right answers and making corrections!

I had to take the GRE to apply for a DPT program and was really struggling with studying for the the quant section. Sitting down and just reading about how to do math like a few other practice books did not help me. This book was exactly what I needed! I was looking for a book with a lot of practice problems with explanations and this is exactly that. It also has a very helpful quant equations and common needed knowledge all compiled at the back of the book. Highly recommended to anyone needing to improve their GRE score. Great price too!!

Good book for practice, but some of the chapters are messed up? Chapter 4 answer key was mistakenly replaced by a second chapter 3 key - so page count goes from 119 back down to page 80 again then hops to chapter 5 - not only am unable to verify my answers for chap 4 SE, but i also lost out on about 90 additional SE test questions since they were text completion duplicates from chapter 3.
