Great little unit
This little gem does exactly what I was looking for i.e. allowing me to plug in multiple external drives (3) which require power. It works perfectly with all my drives recognising them immediately. I haven't tested for transfer speed, but that's not an issue for me: I usually transfer large volumes of data and just leave the computer to get on with it. Can't really comment on the fast charger port as this is of no interest to me. As with some other reviewers I received the unit with EU power supply. I went online to arrange for a replacement and received new UK version the next morning, Kudos to Amazon for this speedy service which I have had occasion to use in the past. For me it's five stars because it does exactly what I wanted.

Using with a Raspberry Pi
The Raspberry Pi requires a maximum of around 750 mA to be supplied via a micro USB port. (There is a 'polyfuse' of 750 mA). The Raspberry Pi also has USB2 port for data communications. The power that can be supplied by the Raspberry via its USB2 ports is limited. Insufficient to power USB drives and, probably, WiFi adapters. Hence the need for a powered USB hub. I had planned to supply power via the TS-HUB3K "dedicated fast charging port" and use the other 3 ports for communications. This will not work and Transcend have offered no solution. The problem is that the Raspberry Pi boots when power is supplied, however shortly later the Raspberry activates it's USB2 ports and thus the hub's 'upstream' port. The hub reacts by momentarily interrupting the power supply. This causes the Raspberry Pi to reboot and the sequence loops. The power supply LED on the Raspberry flashes (about once a second). However, there is a way around this problem. But this means that power cannot be supplied via the 'dedicated fast charging port'. The solution is to power the Raspberry via one of the other hub's ports - NOT the 'dedicated fast charging port' The USB3 standard says that a USB3 port can supply up to 900 mA (USB2 is 500 mA). If (this has not be confirmed) the Transcend port does this then this should be sufficient to supply the 750 mA needed. It might be the hub sees an 'upstream' port of USB2 not 3 and therefore limits to 500 ma. In practice I have successfully run a Raspberry in this way with an external USB disk and WiFi adapter. Also to get more power from the 'dedicated fast charging port' requires special drivers that are only available on Windows or OS/x i.e. not the the Raspberry Pi Atom. Finally it may need care on what devices are supported via the 'dedicated fast charging port' - they would need to tolerate a power interruption early in the boot process. WiFi OK?, hard disk used soon after boot? In summary, I would say that I am happy with the port for use with a Raspberry Pi but that there are some limitations that had to be investigated at some considerable investment in time.

Well pleased
Very pleased with it and bought a second one for my son's PC. Worked immediately straight from the box - no messing about. Have 2x 2TB Seagate USB3.0 external hard drives plus 1x 1 TB USB2.0 external hard drive attached to my PC and it copes with no problem. Haven't used the charging port for charging so can't comment on that. As mentioned on other reviews the lead from the hub to the PC is very short - about 12 inches - which is the only drawback hence only 4 stars.

Beatifully designed, works well, good price
An excellent powered USB 3 hub. I use it with an ASUS tablet Win 8.1 computer. See my uploaded images. As shown the main use is when traveling to backing up photos/videos from the USB3 card reader to the 1 TB disc. Note that the tablet PC does NOT charge via its USB3 connector in the keyboard half, but rather via a power-only micro-USB in the display half. Hence a cable from the hub power-out socket to it. So the only mains brick I need is the one for the hub.

Downgraded to useless
This works OK some of the time. I wanted this because I have a media player and, brilliant though it is, it was unable to power an external SSD via USB. After buying this powered hub I found that it was able to work. With just one SSD plugged in. It seemed unable to handle two SSD plugged into the ports. The power supply is always attached. An UK three pin supply was supplied. I really wanted to be able to keep those two SSDs attached all the time. They do not actually draw much current but too much for the hub. I have downgraded it to a USB charger as the charging USB port works OK with my Kindle and Samsung Note phone and Drift Ghost HD head-cam. Update I have dropped my rating from three to one star now. The performance has deteriorated such that it can no longer power one drive. The smaller of the SSDs can be driven without the hub. The larger will not work at all. Therefore, I am in the same position as if I didn't have the hub. I am becoming more and more frustrated with buying simple electronic devices that should just work, and then don't. Manufacturers should beef up the components in their products so that they can cope with the maximum that could be asked of them rather than the minimum.

compact, well made and works well
This is a nice looking and compact USB hub that feels well made. Had it about a month and is connected to a Porsche Hard Drive, DVD Re-writer plus USB flsh drive and MP3 player (file transfer & re-charging) works well and does the job intended. The hub was also relatively inexpensive. Job done!

Excellent product, very well constructed and super tiny
Excellent product, very well constructed and super tiny. This will fit anywhere. I would recommend if your going to have it permanently on a desk to use blue tack to hold it in place as it has no rubber feet and slides around. Also please be aware it does not come with any UK plug or adaptor so you will need to purchase either a travel adaptor or a new UK dc power supply.

100% Compatible with Raspberry PI 2. Will power the Pi and anything attached to it. I like the fact that it is usb 3... if I need it for something other than Pi or if Pi gets an upgrade...its ready! NOTE: If you try to power the pi and the hub separately: If you power on the hub 1st the Pi will not boot. If you boot the Pi 1st or power the Pi off the hub everything works as you would expect. If you do not have a USB to Micro Usb cable it would be a good idea to get one. Also the hub is slightly smaller than the Pi the 2 fit nicely together.

I bought this hub to use with my tablet, mobile phone, battery tank, etc.., to avoid carrying out all the chargers for each device when I am travelling, but also to use it as a dock station for my tablet when I am at home. The quick charge port charge my thinkpad 8 in reasonable time, and also work as hub with the Y cable (a cable for this specific tablet to use the usb port to charge and to connect a device at the same time). No problem if I use all the ports with all kind of gadgets (keyboard, mouse, usb 3.0 memory, usb 3.0 ethernet adapter, hard disk 3.0, an extra usb 2.0 passive hub, etc.). The device is able to work without the external power supply too, of course we have to be aware that some devices requires more power like hard disks, but I haven't had problems. I tried also to connect the Y cable to power the tablet and at the same time to use the hub, and although it works for a few seconds, it is very unstable and keeps loosing connection to the devices (probably due to lack of power), just for curiosity, actually I prefer to connect the Y cable to the tablet charger and leave a port free to use with other devices. I have used it for two months, if somebody ask me I would recommend this product.
