SKILSAW SPT78W-01 15-Amp 8-1/4-Inch Aluminum Worm Drive Circular Saw

Bought this saw to cut & notch 6x6 posts... worked perfectly for this task. Motor provides plenty of torque to cut heavy timber without any difficulty. Tilt and bevel settings are very accurate for a big worm drive framing saw. It’s very heavy which helps hold a straight line and provide plenty of inertia while cutting. If your looking for a high quality well built framing saw look no further than this HD worm drive saw.

Used it this weekend for cutting rough cut beans that were 2.5 inches thick. Worked great. Appears to be well built and rugged. My only observation was it should have come with an electric brake because the blade seems to guide for sometime after shutting it off and I had issues. Now it was my fault but I was 32 feet off the ground hanging out over the edge with a safety harness on sawing vertically and a brake would have been so nice.

Great Saw! I Have been using these for 20 years to cut stone with a diamond blade. They have never let me down. I always get my money out of them and much more!

I just received this saw last week to help cut 6x6 RR ties. I'm splicing 10 together to make a base for a shed I'm building. I've had to make 6 four foot long cuts on both sides of the timbers and then make a cut at the shoulder so I can splice the timbers together. Long story short, this saw blade was buried to full depth and I pushed through the lenghth of the cut with almost no slowing of blade rotation. I can't understand why some of the reviews were less than 5 stars, but for just straight cuts I don't see how any other saw would do better. It makes me wonder if some expectations aren't maybe a little high for a piece of equipment like this. The only real drawback would be weight, but in this case that goes hand in hand with the quality, and it wasn't unexpected. On the whole I wish all my tool purchases were this happy. The price was right too.

Blasts through almost 3" thick hard maple with ease. 60 degree cuts - yup does those too! Made in Chinesia, but not out of Chinesium. It should last. I don't know why Amazon wanted me to rate this saw's thickness and warmth, but if this saw actually had either of those qualities I am sure it would be five stars worth.

Awesome saw! Bought for ripping 2 to 3 inch rough fir, goes through like butter. Sight dead on ( usually there are nowhere near the blade. Tracks very straight.

Decent price for what we needed.
