Buy Programming Bitcoin: Learn How to Program Bitcoin from Scratch by Song, Jimmy (ISBN: 9781492031499) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: A reference book you will keep going back to - This is a very good detailed book. However, the topics are fairly complicated so it is not light reading. I would recommend this book as it is very in-depth. If you are looking for a more light hearted or simple book it may be best to start with Saifedean Ammous, The Bitcoin Standard, BBCDSatoshi, Buy Bitcoin You’ll Thank Yourself In The Future or Saifedean Ammous, The Bitcoin Standard. The author Jimmy Song is often seen on TV doing interviews which are well worth watching too. Overall, I recommend this book as it is very detailed and acts as a reference book to keep going back to. Review: Exceptional primer on becoming a Bitcoin developer - If you're interested in programming Bitcoin and you have some coding knowledge then this is the only book you'll need. It starts from the very beginning and assumes no knowledge. The mathematics are explained clearly in small bite sized chunks and built upon so you understand the why, not just the what. When you understand why things are the way the are then everything else clicks so much faster. The other stand out from the book is the use of Jupyter notebooks. I'd never used these before but it means you can focus on just the next element being explained and in a few lines find out whether you understand the concept being explained. I’ll find it hard to read a technical book again if it doesn’t have these. By the time you get to SegWit you’ll have a much greater appreciation of the elegance of Bitcoin and the fantastic work being done by the Bitcoin Core developers. I have 20 years development experience but I felt like I was back in school reading this book. In a good way. I found it challenging and at times frustrating but always enjoyable. This is the book I’ll be recommending to people when the ask about Bitcoin. What a great resource for the community! David O’Callaghan

Essential book for those new to bitcoin development
This book is an essential read for new Bitcoin developers. It takes you from the very beginning with elliptical curve cryptography through to more recent bitcoin additions such as segwit. The code samples are well thought out and easy enough to follow along. I highly recommend this book.

great If you want to know the technical details And learn to program bitcoin in python.
I want to know the technical details, I do not want my time wasted with extraneous exercises. I don't mind being given the programming details so long as they are complete. In this book you are forced to complete the exercises in order to fill the deliberate gaps in the software and arrive at a complete programming solution. I want the solution as a possible but unlikely reference for the future. I do not want to work for it, I've paid for it, thank you very much. It seems to have the attitude common to Perl rather than Python. In that in Python full solutions are the norm and there is great respect for the readers time which is not wasted on ego trip puzzles.

You'll understand how bitcoin works
This is the best resource I could find to learn how bitcoin works. Must read if you want later on to learn how to build your own HD wallet or how Lightning Network works.

The book for understanding and learning Bitcoin programming
This is the book for understanding and getting hands on experience with Bitcoin. The book is geared towards a reader with development and software experience. I took Jimmy's Programming Bitcoin course and can attest that the content in the course as well as this book has changed my career opportunities and my fundamental understanding of Bitcoin. There are short areas of mathematics, although a degree in maths is not a requirement, I would advise further study into the mathematic concepts presented in this book. This book will take you from a Bitcoin novice to a competent Bitcoin programmer that understands the core fundamentals of programming Bitcoin. This is a book that given a driven and passionate individual, can learn a lot from and greatly improve their career opportunities and Bitcoin knowledge. I highly recommend this book for any programmer ready to dive into the matrix! Chris
