I have no easy way to check
Will this device remove a cork from a bottle of wine? Yes, very efficiently. Is it a "real" Pulltap's? That's how it's inscribed. I have no easy way to check. If it is a "knockoff," it's a well made one. The hinges are strong; the two lips (whatever they are called) engage the wine bottle firmly and at the proper angle; and the corkscrew itself is made of hardened steel and is very sharp. Admittedly, I have never studied corkscrew technology and previously have picked up the cheapest available tool at the local liquor store; that said, this is by far the best corkscrew I've owned in a long life opening thousands of wine bottles, and I can't imagine how it could be better. It is strong, effective, compact, and (relatively) cheap. [Aside: The wide quality variation registered in some Amazon product reviews (like those for this corkscrew) raise in my mind the possibility that some low quality counterfeits escape the Amazon filters. For that reason, whereas I feel comfortable buying an item like this one, produced by 19th Century technology, that can easily be checked, I am wary of buying some Hitech mass produced items like memory chips for cameras.]

Pretty good wine tool, but not perfect for my use (admittedly very picky)
A good to very good waiter style tool. The good: long screw that's coated to reduce binding in hard corks and will go all the way through even long corks excellent articulated, multi-position lever easy to grip handle made with good quality materials no "hot spots" in hand The not so good: thick screw can still bind in hard or long corks, not kind to older corks awkwardly short foil cutter that's more of a mini saw than a blade, almost impossible to get a cleanly cut capsule with

Works well and stores well
This folds up nicely for carrying or storage (way better than most corkscrew designs). It works very well; the two-stage operation provides plenty of leverage, making it easy to remove a cork. The design is sturdy and simple, so I think it will last a very long time.

Works well
Very handy bottle opener. I have tried many styles and this one is my favorite. The two step method doesn't take long to learn and gives great leverage when done properly. After a few tries, I find it the fastest way to cleanly remove foil and cork. I recommend sharpening the foil blade a little. It really doesn't have to be chef knife sharp, but ships a bit dull. After just a little sharpening, it cuts foil very neatly.

Very Nice Corkscrew
I used to have a rabbit-ear corkscrew, which worked great - until the cheap plastic part in one of the main components broke. One thing I absolutely cannot stand is cheap material/poor workmanship. That's why I turned to these professional-type corkscrews. So far, I've opened about half a dozen bottles with this Pulltap, and it performed admirably. The corkscrew is pretty hefty and exudes a sense of quality. I love the way it handles. The screw itself works really well, going through corks easily without cracking them and the double hinges make extracting corks a breeze. However, the foil cutter is a bit hard to use, or perhaps I'm not used to it yet. The pins on the hinges seem to be well made, I hope they'll hold up.
